Story Writing Rubric for Heroes

This rubric is for assessing student story writing and contains categories for evaluating various elements of the writing. It evaluates the writing process, plot development, creativity, conflict, character development, and spelling/punctuation. For each category, it provides descriptors to describe student work at a 4 (excellent), 3 (good), 2 (satisfactory), and 1 (needs improvement) level. The highest level indicates devotion of time and effort to writing, well-organized ideas, use of imagination, clear problems, well-described characters, and no errors. The lowest level indicates little effort, disorganized ideas, lack of imagination, unclear problems, undefined characters, and many errors.
