HOW DOES SIMPDO GLUCOSE MONITORING SYSTEM DETECT BLOOD GLUCOSE
IN PATIENTS?
SimpDo has a test strip which employs disposable dry reagent chemistry technology, based on
the enzyme method for glucose determination. Each test strip contains special enzyme. When a
drop of blood is applied to the target area of the test strip, the enzyme catalyzes the oxidation of
glucose in the drop and produces the substance which can transfer the electrons
quickly on strip surface. During the reaction, the electrochemical mediator transfers the electrons
to the strip surface. This in return generates a current that is measured by the SimpDo monitor.
The size of the current generated is proportional to the amount of glucose present in the blood,
thus gives an accurate reading of the blood glucose concentration.
WHAT TYPE OF SPECIMEN CAN BE USED IN SIMPDO GLUCOSE MONITORING
SYSTEM?
SimpDo is intended for the quantitative measurement of glucose in fresh capillary whole blood.
HOW IS THE TEST PERFORMED?
The test is performed by inserting the test strip to the monitor. Then apply the blood to the sample
applying area. In 30 seconds, the result (in mg/dl or mmol/L) will appear.
HOW LONG CAN THE RESULT BE OBTAINED?
Results can be obtained in 30 seconds.
WHAT ARE THE CONTENTS OF EACH KIT?
Each kit contains a test monitor, test strip, lancing device and disposable lancets.
WHAT TYPE OF BATTERY SHOULD BE USED IN THE SIMPDO MACHINE?
SimpDo monitor comes with a pre-installed 3.0 V lithium battery.
CAN SIMPDO BE USED BY NON-MEDICAL PRACTITIONERS?
Yes, actually SimpDo is designed for home use. So basically, end users don’t necessarily have to
be a medical practitioner. SimpDo is very much easy to use; instructions are very well explained in
the manual.
HOW IS SIMPDO CALIBRATED? WHY IS THERE A NEED FOR CALIBRATION?
There is a calibrator included in the box of test strips for every SimpDo kit. For each new box of
test strips, the monitor must be calibrated in order to check if the test strips are suitable and
appropriate for SimpDo monitoring device. Calibration is done by inserting the contact bars of the
calibrator into the monitor until 88.8 appear in the display window. Then a three-character calibra-
tion code appears in the display window. One should check the calibration code on the monitor’s
display window and the calibrator. Make sure that they have the same calibration code.
WHAT ARE THE MEASURES TO BE TAKEN TO ENSURE THAT THE TESTING PRO-
CESS IS CORRECT?
Do not use test strips that have expired. Check the expiration date printed on each test strip
packet and box. Use the test strip immediately after opening. Do not use a test strip if it is bent,
scratched, wet or damaged in any way. Do not cut the test strip. Never reuse a test strip. Do not
reuse lancets. Do not share a used lancet or lancing device.
SHOULD SIMPDO BE USED FOR THE DIAGNOSIS OF DIABETES?
SimpDo should be used only for testing purposes, not for the diagnosis of diabetes.
