The last fifteen years working in park planning and protected area management in Central
Victoria has enabled me to gain an appreciation of the fine balance that exists in maintaining
a sustainable resource that ensures natural, cultural and heritage values are respected, but
that social and recreational values and uses are not lost. The opportunity to work in
collaboration with and learn from traditional owners as well as the communities that live,
work and recreate in these landscapes has been enormously informative, mutually rewarding
and character building.
