In May 2010, CGI agreed upon a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) with the
Government of Indias National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC),

To expand its existing capacity and setup 5 Skill Development Centers across
Orissa & North Coastal Andhra Pradesh.

Under this first of its kind partnership, about 21,000 unskilled and semi-skilled
youth will be trained across different technical trades over the next five years,
which will facilitate development and up-gradation of the unskilled & semiskilled workforce.

This is the first tranche of funding as is part of an overall plan which will
eventually leading up to the setup 15 similar centers across East India aiming
to train 15,000 youth per year over the next 3 years

Scale up to 50 centers over a 10 period.

All programs to be joint certification with NSDC & Centurion University of

Technology & Management

Foreword
The advanced skills CAD team of Gram Tarang Employability Training Services Pvt. Ltd.
(GTET) has designed and brought out the first version of MECHANICAL CAD Workbook
The MECHANICAL CAD Workbook is intended to give Computer Aided Design (CAD)
learners a set of exercises to practice the commands learnt in theory classes so as to fully
explore and understand CAD concepts.
The exercises have been designed and sequenced in a graded manner so that the learner
encounters CAD challenges from easy to difficult level. This will not only make learning
interesting but also build confidence level.
This workbook will help the CAD learner to:
1. Explore and understand the fundamentals of using CAD software in Mechanical/
Civil/Electrical Engineering.
2. Practise a set of drawings to gain knowledge and confidence for real world
application.
3. Know the power of CAD software to self-explore further capabilities of CAD software.
4. Use the exercises in the workbook at a later time to brush-up the CAD skills learnt
earlier.
The workbook has been designed so that the users of this workbook are encouraged to
make notes of:
1. important points
2. tricks learnt
while practicing a particular exercise in the workbook itself.
The CAD team behind this workbook looks forward to users feedback for making
improvements to the next version of MECHANICAL CAD Workbook.

ABOUT THIS WORKBOOK

GTETS welcomes all the students to the training of AutoCAD Level 1.This workbook is
specially designed for mechanical engineers. The drawings are very relevant to their
syllabus.
HOW TO USE DIFFERENT SECTION OF THIS WORKBOOK
FILE NAME & LOCATION- Every student have to note the figure name and
where it is saved in the computer. So that it will be easier for the faculty to
evaluate as well as it will help for the future reference.
COMMAND LIST- It is the list of commands which is going to be mainly used
in the drawing
DURATION: The time mentioned in this section is to complete the drawing
fully. So that a student can judge himself or herself. If a student is taking
more time than mentioned, then he/she needs to do more practice.
NOTES- It is the section for the student. A student will make a note of what he/
she finds new in the drawing or what difficulties come across in completion
of the drawing or what new command learnt by him/her etc.
REMARK- It is the section for the trainer. The trainer will give his remark about
the current drawing in that section. This will help in evaluation process.
