Bleach stabiliser developed for Chemical Pulp Bleaching
General Product Information
DEQUEST FS 9513 phosphonate is an excellent stabiliser for oxidative alkaline
bleaching steps and reductive bleaching steps of various types of pulp. It has shown to
be particularly effective improving the peroxide bleaching efficiency of chemical pulp.
DEQUEST FS 9513 phosphonate has a dual functionality for the Pulp & Paper
process as it can also effectively control silicate, barium sulphate and calcium
carbonate scale in various conditions.
DEQUEST FS 9513 is designed to be stable under alkaline and high temperature
conditions applicable in pulp bleaching.

DEQUEST FS 9513 is a neutralised aqueous solution of
phosphonic acids. Suitable materials of construction for
dosing equipment include PVC, Polypropylene, HDPE and high
grade stainless steels. More detailed recommendations are

DEQUEST FS 9513 slowly biodegrades in the environment
and has a low toxicity.
DEQUEST FS 9513 can efficiently be removed in a sewage
treatment. Removal rates of 85% and higher have been
reported(1). More detailed information is available upon
request.
DEQUEST FS 9513 can improve the Peroxide bleaching
efficiency and Oxygen delignification of chemical pulp.
Addition of low amounts of DEQUEST F 9513 during the
bleaching step can increase the final brightness results of
the pulp, increase the residual Peroxide levels and remove
detrimental metals (Fe, Mn, Cu).
Health and safety
Based on Italmatch Chemicals S.p.A.s studies, DEQUEST
FS 9513 phosphonate is not classified as dangerous.

DEQUEST FS 9513 is a highly effective threshold scale
inhibitor for various mineral deposits such as silica, barium
sulphate and calcium carbonate scale.
This threshold effect is the prevention of precipitation
from supersaturated solutions of scaling ions by ppm
levels of inhibitor.
DEQUEST FS 9513 is miscible with water in all proportions.
Application and dosage level
The dosage level required during Peroxide bleaching is in
the order of 0.05 to 0.5 wt % per ton dried pulp, but is
very much dependent on the quality of the pulp, the metal
