Jesus Time: Elijah and King Ahab
We see that God did something spectacular to show the power of the one true God.
“My Word will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for
which I have sent it.”
The children will say this passage to me on Friday. They are doing an excellent job. So far no one has
needed to recite it in a group. Great Job Kindergarten!
Ahab and Naboth’s Vineyard
We see King Ahab did not know how to be content with what he had. He pouted when
Naboth would not give up his vineyard. Are we content with the blessings that God
gives us or do we try to do more or buy more than we need.
God, we praise you that you have given us our most important need of all, salvation.
Help us be content with what we have. Guide us to carefully plan for what we would
like so that we do not go after every whim or idea. We pray for wisdom to use the
money you give us for your glory.

Friday: the children will recite the words above to Miss S. after chapel
I think you will find great success in doing this. We have done this since the third quarter ended. Every
week each child has said a passage to me for memory. We say it together, whisper it, shout it out loud,
draw pictures to go with certain words, use actions to act out certain words, cross out words we already
know, take turns saying words or sections, or erase words to learn it. Try it for yourself and see how
quickly your child learns the passage. They are ready to say memory work. Do this together with your
child. It will help set the routine for saying memory work in first grade.
Reading
Read with your child everyday.
Other
Thursday or Friday: tell stories or share special memories from the past, play a game, work on a
project together, go outside and plant flowers while they help or ride a bike
Use this time to bond with your child and listen to them. This is the time when they relax and share with
you what they are learning or challenges that they have. This is a time to teach them what to say or do.
This is a great time to listen.
