ExceptionaggregationcanbeusedtoderiveadditionalinformationoutofalimitednumberofKeyFiguresprovidedin
theInfoCubethatistobeanalyzed.
Thereby,youcancreateCalculatedKeyFiguresbyusingaformulathatusesexceptionaggregationitself(thisisa
nestedexceptionaggregation).Furthermore,itispossibletouseCalculatedKeyFigurescreatedoncelllevel(using
thecelleditor)withthenewfunctionsofexceptionaggregation.
Example:Ifasalesmanagerwantstoanalyzethenumberofmaterialssoldandtheaveragenumberofdifferent
materialssoldtodifferentcustomersforeachsalesmonth.InthesalesInfoCube,onlyaKeyFigureoftheSales
VolumeinEURforthedifferentsoldmaterialsisprovided.Usingthefunctionsforexceptionaggregation,hecan
derivetheadditionallyrequiredtwoKeyFiguresjustfromthesalesvolumeinEURforsoldmaterials.
Procedure:Todefineanexceptionaggregationfortheexampleabove,thefollowingstepsareperformed
1.YoucreateaQuerythatcontainstheCharacteristics"SoldtoParty"(Customer)and"Material"inthefree
Characteristics,thecharacteristics
"Cal.year/month"intherowsandtheKeyFigure"SalesVolumeEUR"
2.Inthenextstep,youdefineanewformula("Differentmaterials"),whichsimplyincludestheQueryKeyFigure"Sales
VolumeinEUR"(nooperatorrequiredinthisexample).
Thenyouaccessthepropertiesofthisformulaandchoosetheexceptionaggregationsetting"countallvalues<>0"for
thereferenceCharacteristic"Material".Inthisway,youhavedefinedacounterforyoursoldmaterialsderivedfromthe
KeyFigure"SalesVolumeinEUR".Youhavesimplycounted
thenumberofoccurrencesof"SalesVolumeinEUR"togiveyouthenewKeyFigure'DifferentMaterials'.
3.Nowyouwillnesttheexceptions:Youarenowabletocountthenumberofmaterialssoldineachmonthforall
customersusingthestepabove,butyouwanttoknowwhattheaveragenumberofmaterialsthecustomersboughtin
eachmonth.Toachievethis,youmustdefineanotherformula("Avg.soldmaterials/customers"),whichsimplyrefers
tothefirstformula.Againnootheroperatorsarerequired.Youaccessthepropertiesofthesecondformulaand
choosetheexceptionaggregation"AverageofallValues"forthereferenceCharacteristic"SoldtoParty".TheKey
pointhereisthattheresultsofthefirstaggregationarefurtherprocessedbythesecondaggregation.
