also known for its international design

you know that Finland is the home of
Angry Birds? They were created by a
Finnish mobile entertainment company!

KYMENLAAKSO
IN BRIEF
Kymenlaakso is a dynamic region in Southeast Finland offering a
variety of services for commerce, trade and logistics but also an area of
outstanding natural beauty. The region is well-known for its Repovesi
national park, which is one of the most popular hiking and outdoor
destinations in Finland.
Kymenlaakso is located on the border between the EU and Russia and
the region is ideally located for traveling. The transport connections are
excellent - after all Kouvola is the biggest railway junction in Finland.
How about taking a night train to Lapland? You can also get on a highspeed train in Kouvola and find yourself in St. Petersburg just over two
hours later. In addition Tallinn and Stockholm can be easily reached by
boat from Helsinki.

The standard of education is one of the

best in the world. Finlands education
system is constantly among the top
positions in the PISA survey.

The population of Finland is

approximately 5.4 million and the capital
is Helsinki. Finland has been a member of
the European Union since 1995 and was
the first country to start using the Euro
(beating Germany by 1 hour).

contemporary campus facility in Kotka both offer superfast

The International Business Degree Programme aims to equip

graduates with the knowledge, skills and understanding required
in challenging positions in the expanding field of international
marketing and international trade. It also strives to produce
graduates who can work independently and communicate with
people from different cultural backgrounds.

International Business students can deepen their personal

The graduates of the degree programme in Design degree will master

game production with an emphasis on planning and developing games
and acquiring a clear understanding of the game industry. The degree gives
competence through research and development assignments to become
an expert in specific areas of game design and other fields which use 3D
modeling and animation such as advertising and TV production.
The basic studies cover arts and design skills, design methods and
professional tools. The education centers around 3D modeling,
concept art, script writing and game mechanics. Different game design
concepts will be explored in workshops, leading to design-orientated
multidisciplinary projects in cooperation with various organizations.
The programme aims to provide competence in global game design
entrepreneurship with hands-on experience and a holistic approach to
visual game design concepts. Studies in Game Design enable students
from different cultural backgrounds to build an international career.

The Degree Programme in Design is designated to professionals working

within design intensive fields of business and provides for innovation
management and design leadership tools for a variety of design disciplines.
Studies focusing on e.g. innovation strategies, design thinking, or
leadership will follow an individually tailored curriculum, conducted in a
multidisciplinary, project oriented learning environment.
Multi-method studies consisting of lectures and seminars as well as
team working and e-learning tasks preparing for the business oriented
masters thesis development project will provide graduates for a diverse
methodology toolkit. Project works are planned and conducted under
supervision of Kyamk staff in constant collaboration between students and
their partner enterprises or employers.

MANAGEMENT
The degree programme in International Business Management improves
the students knowledge, skills, and competence to succeed in demanding
development, management, and expert positions with companies and
organisations that are already international or on the verge of becoming
international.
The education focuses on sectors of international trade which are of vital
importance for the strategic management and growth of the company
(brand management, supply chain management, leadership and change
management, financing and risk management, encountering different
cultures). In the development project the student develops innovative
solutions for the international business of an organisation. The students
can also conduct some design courses, if desired. The study groups are
diversified and multicultural.

THE SCOPE
90 credits. The duration of studies is
approximately 2.5 years.
The language of instruction is English.
The degree title depends on the previously
achieved Bachelors Degree.

The programme aims at an evidence-based development of your

professional practice as a designer and coordinator of health promotion
activities and projects. The program consists of advanced studies in health
promotion, the management studies and the economical leadership and
direction of social and health care.
The aim of the management studies is to prepare the students to take
charge of a department or unit in a health or social care institution. The
Masters thesis made as a development project as well as a range of optional
studies deepen your expertise.
The programme requires participation 24 days a month. A large portion
of the studies will be implemented individually or in the small groups
intensive online. The contact lessons include lectures and seminars. The
information technology skills and equipment are essential. A special focus
is put on information retrieval.
