MOMFI Team Building

Theme:
SPIDER WEB:
-to introduce participants to each other
-to create a personal connection between individuals
-know better the other people in the group
Instructions:
Stand across from each other within a circle; once they are all in a standing position hand someone a ball of yarn.
The person holding the ball needs to relate to the group the yuckiest or most embarrassing thing he/she have
ever done or experienced, and then, once the laughter has died down, pass the yarn a long to one of the people on
the opposite side of the circle. At the end of the session there should be a spider web linking everyone.
Synthesis: Everyone has their own flaws. Despite, they have the right to belong to a group, to be connected, and to
belong.
Ice Breaker: PEOPLE TO PEOPLE
The purpose of this exercise is to bring group members closer together.
Physically they will be close together, and the reality of their interdependence is played out in this game.
Touch creates a setting for cohesiveness and teamwork, and begins breaking down the invisible walls we have
around us.
Find a partner
Leader calls out actions such as: nose to nose; back to back; knee to knee; elbow to elbow, shoulder to
shoulder
When the leader calls PEOPLE to PEOPLE everyone must exchange partners
INCORPORATION:
-for forming and reforming groups as quickly as possible
-to meet many different groups of people as fast as possible
-to get to know similarities and differences between you and another person or the group
Go to a group
_ A group with the same color of shirt
_ Wearing the same size shoe as you
_ Same first letter of name
_ Find everyone else born in the same month as you

GET IT TOGETHER:
-to practice clear communication and develop keys to trust during challenging and confusing times
-this event will remind people in each position what the other role feels like and lend insights to improving
relations between the two

Instructions:

-Form groups and then a line. Facilitators will blindfold those who are first in line who will be instructed by
the person behind him to be able to get the object in front. The blind fold will be passed on up to the last member
until the group have completed the required objects.

Synthesis: This activity helps participants experience the need for trust, the need for planning and the difficulties
of communicating while being both coach and coachee. Trust help promote a strong bond between team members
and co-workers. Trust is the culmination of good communication and constant maintenance. Relationships are based
upon trust and cannot exist without it. Taking the time to practice trust building is not only a good idea, it is
absolutely necessary from time to time.

Ice Breaker: THE HA HA GAME


Everyone form a circle.
Put your head on to the other persons shoulder.
1st person starts with Ha, 2nd says HA HA, 3rd says HA HA HA and so on
The CATCH: No teeth of any participants should be seen
MAGIC CARPET RIDE:
-for building camaraderie and unity, teamwork, decision making
Directions:
-Lay sheet flat on the floor or ground. Ask everyone to stand on the sheet.
-Now, turn the "Magic Carpet" (old sheet) over without anyone touching the floor or the ground in any way.
-No one may lift anyone off the sheet at any time.
Processing questions:
_ Who had the ideas to overcome the challenge?
_ Who was the leader of the group?
_ How many different solutions might there be?
OUR TOWER:
-to create a form of camaraderie within a group
-enhance interpersonal communications
Instructions:
Ask everyone to build the highest tower they can using/stacking up all the chairs (preferably monoblock) inside the
room (around them). However, no one is allowed to create any sound (foot step, banggaan ng upuan, humming,
paglapag ng upuan, giggling etc.) while doing any activity. If there are any sound created while doing the activity,
facilitator will ask them to repeat and put the chairs back to their original places and repeat stacking up again.
Once the group have created their tower, ask them to bring down it down again/ remove and return the chairs one
by one to each original places. If there are any sound created, they shall begin from building the tower again.
Ice Breaker: APE, MAN, GIRL
Demonstrate actions for APE, MAN, GIRL
APE beats the GIRL
MAN beats the APE
GIRL beats the MAN

NEW PLANET ACTIVITY:


-for developing Decision Making, Leadership
Materials: copies of worksheet (1 per student on white); copies of worksheet (1 per group on colored paper).
Directions:
_ Explain that each person will receive a list of 30 people. However, due to air pollution, the earths ozone is
too thin. In a few days, the earth will be too hot for people to survive. NASA is going to send a rocket to new
planet so humans will not become extinct. However, only 10 of the 30 people can go to the new planet. Each person
has 5 minutes to decide by themselves who will go.
_ Distribute copy of new planet worksheet to each person (copies on white paper).
_ Next, divide group into groups of 3-4. Give each group a worksheet on colored paper. Each group has 10
minutes to come up with their list of people for the new planet.
_ Ask each group to pick a recorder and a reporter.
Group process questions:
_ How did you make your decisions individually?
_ How did your group make its decisions?
_ What were some challenges? How did you handle conflict? Did you have to compromise?
_ Did a leader emerge? What was the leaders style? How did she/he lead?
_ What values influenced your decisions? Where do our values come from? What can happen when people
with different values get together? (Point out any stereotypes that seemed to influence decisions. Reinforce no
judgments in this group.)
Ice Breaker: ON THE FLOOR
Divide into groups; choose a leader
Instructions:
The facilitator will say x numbers of body parts that must be touching the floor.
Example: On the floor must be:
50 fingers
5 feet
2 palms
5 knees
BROTHERHOOD/SISTERHOOD CIRCLE
Good to use a a last activity to strengthen the camaraderie/ connections formed
Ask everyone to form a big circle. Ask to turn so that their right shoulders are facing the inner circle. Ask them to
hold onto each others shoulder and slowly sit onto the knee of the person behind them. (Ask them to adjust their
distance so that theyll be able to sit). Time the group to see how long they can hold their circle
