Heat Index Safety Procedures for Sports

This document outlines procedures for monitoring heat index and guidelines for athletic activities based on the measured heat index. It states that the heat index will be checked 1 hour before outdoor activities when air temperature is 80°F or higher using the accuweather.com website. If the heat index is 90°F or above, it must be rechecked at halftime or midway. Outdoor activities will be suspended if the heat index reaches 96°F or greater. A chart provides recommendations such as adequate water breaks, monitoring athletes, and considering postponing or reducing activity time based on the measured heat index level.
