SEASON of LENT
The Season of Lent is a time of prayer, self-denial and for helping others. In this way
the whole Church prepares for the Great Feast of Easter.
Please take home a Project Compassion Box or Envelope today

Project Compassion: Week 1: The focus this week is on Fiji. Married couple Eric
and Ma had an unprofitable farm and limited diet before they engaged in training at
the Tutu Rural Training Centre, supported by Caritas Australia. Now they have a
successful farm, a sustainable income and food for life.
Donations to Project Compassion helps people in isolated areas of Fiji gain the
skills they need to build healthy families and grow food for life.
The Quilt of Hope: This is a remarkable work completed by a Ballarat group:
Moving Towards Justice Inc. It aims to garner support for survivors of church related
child sexual abuse and symbolises the piecing together of shattered lives. The Quilt
has given rise to interest far & wide: in church communities as well as shopping
malls and other public venues. It will be displayed at Parliament House and given
prominence in the Museum of Australian Democracy at the Eureka Centre.
On Sunday, 1st March the Quilt will be displayed at St Josephs Church and we
welcome this opportunity to invite you to come & reflect in hope. By acting together
we might share compassion and healing with those who have suffered.
New Life: Last weekend Kate Foster commenced her formal journey on her way to
joining us around the Eucharistic Table at Easter. Yesterday her sponsor Geraldine
Ryan, and members of the RCIA Team gathered with Kate and others from
throughout the Diocese at St Patricks Cathedral (Ballarat) for the Rite of Election
and to meet with Bishop Paul Bird.
