2015 SCHOOL COUNCIL
Im delighted to confirm the membership of our School Council for 2015.
Our five parent representatives are Gary Barrett, Simone Royle, Warren Petersen, Amanda Reeve and
Deanne Norman.
The four staff representatives are myself, Alicia Perkins, Mandy Bos and Paul King.
Sincere thanks to the parents who expressed interest in this important role. Therefore we are not
required to go to election. Its great working with so many parents who are eager to contribute and
support the many functions to the school!
EVERY DAY COUNTS SCHOOL ATTENDANCE
We all want our students to get a great education, and the building blocks for a great education begin with students
coming to school each and every day.
Missing school can have a major impact on a childs future a student missing one day a fortnight will miss
four full weeks by the end of the year. By Year 10 theyll have missed more than a year of school.
There is no safe number of days for missing school each day a student misses puts them behind, and
can affect their educational outcomes.
Coming to school every day is vital, but if for any reason your child must miss school, there are things
we can do together to ensure they dont fall behind:
Speak with your classroom teacher and find out what work your child needs to do to keep up.
In the case of an extended absence, develop an absence learning plan with your teacher and ensure your child
completes the plan.
Remember, every day counts. If your child must miss school, speak with your classroom teacher as early as possible.
From 1 March 2014, new laws mean that parents can be fined for not sending students to school without an acceptable
reason.
If youre having attendance issues with your child, please let your classroom teacher know so we can work together to get
your child to school every day.
As Always, if you would like to discuss this matter further; please dont hesitate to contact Paul King (Assistant Principal) or
myself for an appointment.
If your child is late to school please come to the school office and sign the Late Arrivals Book the teacher also marks
the roll as your child being late. If your child leaves school early please sign them out in the Leaving Early Book. It is
mandatory for schools to record both these actions.

From the office Sending Money to School
When returning money to school for an excursion etc. PLEASE make sure the money is in a sealed envelope
with your childs name, grade and what the money is for printed clearly on the front. ALL money must be
handed directly to the classroom teacher. The school office does NOT hold money to give change as we bank
each day so please endeavour to send the correct money or close to and we will send change home with the

On Tuesday 3
March we shall be conducting our 1st semester parent/teacher
discussions. This forum provides an opportunity for parents to share and discuss
any relevant information with your childs teacher that may have an impact upon the
childs learning in 2015 and beyond. A form was sent home today for parents to
select a time. Please reply to your childs class teacher asap so an appointment
may be organised.
The Grade Ones enjoyed learning about Shrove Tuesday and eating pancakes. They compared how
pancakes were made many many years ago and the different ways we can make them today, tying in
nicely with our Topic Past and Present. Children also learnt about the utensils we used and had fun
putting their own topping on their pancake.
