an Indian manufacturer of fertilizers and Chemicals.


GNFC was founded in 1976 and it is listed on Mumbai Stock Exchange. The company was
jointly promoted by the Government of Gujarat and the Gujarat State Fertilizer Company Limited
(GSFC).
It was set up in Bharuch Gujarat. Located at Bharuch in an extremely prosperous industrial belt,
GNFC draws on the resources of the natural wealth of the land as well as the industrially rich
reserves of the area.
GNFC started its manufacturing and marketing operations by setting up in 1982, one of the
world's largest single-stream ammonia-urea fertilizer complexes. Over the next few years,
GNFC successfully commissioned different projects - in fields as diverse as chemicals,
fertilizers and electronics.
Since inception, GNFC has worked towards an extensive growth as a corporation. A growth
which respects the environment and springs from the progressive vision of GNFC.
GNFC today has extended its profile much beyond fertilizers through a process of horizontal
integration. Chemicals/Petrochemicals, Energy Sector, Electronics/Telecommunications and
Information Technology form ambitious and challenging additions to its corporate portfolio.
GNFC has an enterprising, strategic view towards expansion and diversification.

Israel Chemicals Ltd. (Hebrew:

) ", also known as ICL, is a multi-

national manufacturing concern that develops, produces and markets fertilizers, metals and
other special-purpose chemical products. ICL serves primarily three markets: agriculture, food
and engineered materials. ICL produces approximately a third of the worlds bromine, and is the
worlds sixth-largest potash producer, as well as the leading provider of pure phosphoric acid. It
is a major manufacturer of specialty fertilizers and specialty phosphates, flame retardants and
water treatment solutions. The Company is divided into three segments: ICL Fertilizers, ICL

Industrial Products and ICL Performance Products. Its mining and manufacturing operations are
located in Israel, Europe, the Americas and China.
HISTORY

1968: ICL established by the State of Israel as a government-owned company.

1975: Expansion through the consolidation of additional government-owned entities,


including Dead Sea Works, the companies that comprised Rotem Amfert Negev, Bromine
Compounds and TAMI, ICLs research arm.

1977: ICL started its first manufacturing (as opposed to sales) efforts abroad, with the
purchase of BK Giulini Chemie GmbH, a German chemical manufacturer. This was followed
in later years with further overseas acquisitions.

1992: Israeli governments privatization of ICL through the listing of its shares on the Tel
Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE) and issuing a special non-transferable State Share to the
State of Israel to protect The governments vital interests.

1995: The State of Israel completes the privatization of ICL and sells its controlling
interest (~24.9% of the Companys equity) to Israel Corp., then controlled by the
Eisenberg family.

1999: The Ofer Brothers Group acquired control of Israel Corp. Between 1995 and 2000;
the Government sold its remaining shares in the Company.

As of April 2009, the company was said to be considering a bond offering to raise 500 million
shekels ($122 million).

CURRENT OPERATION
90% of ICL's sales are exports. A major player on world markets, ICL through its subsidiaries,
accounts for:

35% of world bromine production

11% of world potash production and 13% of international potash trade (excluding the
cross-border trade between the United States and Canada)

9% of western world primary magnesium consumption

3% of world phosphate rock production, 3% of international phosphate rock trade


(excluding the cross-border trade between the US and Canada)

One of the worlds most integrated manufacturers and suppliers of phosphate products.

ICL exports fertilizers to Europe and to numerous specialty chemical market segments. In Israel,
ICL is the largest supplier of fertilizers and chemicals, as well as one of Israel's largest
companies.
60% of ICL's raw products (minerals) are excavated in Israel. ICL also owns and operates
underground mines in Spain, United Kingdom (North Yorkshire), China, the US and South
America.

SABIC (SAudi Basic Industries Corporation) is a diversified manufacturing company,


active in chemicals and intermediates, industrial polymers, fertilizers and metals. It is the
largest public company in Saudi Arabia, as listed in Tadawul, but the Saudi government still
owns 70% of its shares. SABIC is also the largest listed companies in the Middle [Link]
shareholders are from Saudi Arabia and other countries of the six-nation Gulf Cooperation
Council (GCC).
SABIC is currently the second largest global ethylene glycol producer and is expected to top the
list after the introduction of new projects. SABIC is the third largest polyethylene manufacturer,
the

fourth

largest polyolefins manufacturer,

and

the

fourth

largest

polypropylene manufacturer. SABIC is also the worlds largest producer of mono-ethylene


glycol, MTBE, granular urea, polycarbonate, polyphenylene and polyether imide.
In 2008, SABIC was ranked fourth in the world by Fortune Global 500. By 2009, SABIC also
improved its position to become the worlds 186th largest corporation. In 2010, SABIC grew to
be the second largest diversified chemical company, or first when measured only by asset
value. Measured over all its branches, it became (as of 2014) the world's 94th largest
corporation on the Forbes Global 2000 ranking, with sales revenues of $50.4 billion, profits of
$6.6 billion and assets standing at $90.2 billion.

The company is based in Riyadh and has interests in 17 affiliated companies, which range from
full ownership to significant partial participation.
