The FCCLA for Fairfax
R-III went to Northwest
Missouri State University
in Maryville on Wednesday,
October 22. At the meeting
we talked about the upcom-
ing events.
We had two guest speak-
ers. One was in the Air Force
and the other was one the
original speaker.
At FCCLA they had a
dance-off of nine people. All
nine of them had to get into
groups of three. The third
group won so all three of
them got headphones.
I would advise some peo-
ple to do FCCLA because
its a good thing to get into.
It helps you learn about life
and we always have fun.

On October 18, the Fairfax R-3 drumline participated in
the Trenton Drumline Competition. There were ve drum
corps in their class. Fairfax took fourth place, which isnt
bad for their rst time attending a drumline competition.
The ag corps of Fairfax R-3 got second place out of 11
ag corps. Last year the ag corps got fth. That is a good
improvement from last year. If the drum corps and the ag
corps go next year their goal is to get rst place.

Its normal to have strong
emotional or even physical
reactions following a dis-
tressing event. The intensity
of reactions differs between
person to person, but some
of the reactions last for days,
weeks or even longer.
Teenagers react to dis-
tressing events differently
than adults or younger chil-
dren. Parents or caregivers
can help their teens by un-
derstanding the ways that
teenagers handle stress and
trauma so they can under-
stand how to help and sup-
port their teens. Teenagers
who experienced a distress-
ing or frightening event
are often affected by these
strong emotions.
