Maintaining true Christianity calls us to visit and pray with or for the afflicted. It is important for
us to know certain prerequisites before praying for any one. If prayers were just enough for
certain afflictions, we wouldnt have need of attending church services, we would simply pray
then we are saved! Thus, brethren, in this article youll learn and understand how prayers ought
to be endeavored depending on situations.
The first thing that you need to know is that every person who prays for anyone must exercise
counseling skills. That is beginning with a diagnosis. This will help you know how to say your
prayer. There are afflictions which are physical, mental and spiritual, thus a diagnosis will
enable you to give good counsel as well as possible solutions.
Many who have neglected counsel have ended up praying for wrong answers.
There are afflictions that result from committing or omitting the health and moral principles in
our lives. For instance, the Bible instructs us on how we must eat and violating this law is
consequential. Such results may not be immediate, and as counselors you ought to find out all
this. Afflictions such as being demon possessed come as a result of not doing what God requires
of you and agreeing to what the Devil suggests. (Amos 3:3).
In most instances that Jesus healed in Bible, He said that its the faith of the afflicted that makes
their desire possible. Thus it is important to ask the afflicted what they need Jesus to do for
them.
Isaiah 59:2 Says, your sins have hidden his face from you so that He will not hear.
Therefore, it is always important to have our sins confessed to God, including of the afflicted.
Whats important is having belief in all this, Jesus says, my Father will give you whatever you
ask in my nameask and you will receive John 16:23, 24.
God has a plan for every one and we wont always know it but its there. He knows every ones
weakest point thus He wont allow those who are weak to be tempted with what they cannot
overcome, Hebrews 10:13. Gods will is that none should perish but that all should be saved.
Therefore, we dont know Gods will towards an afflicted, either He wants that person to learn,
live or rest. In such circumstances, we should always pray for Gods will to overrule. A number
of people who have been asked to pray for those sick with AIDS, simply because they have no
hope, they pray that that person should rest in Jesus, and yet they show disbelief in God the
healer of all diseases. The Devil wants you to think this way. God is almighty and nothing can
fail Him.
When Gods will takes its course, your faith in Him should increase and searching of scripture,
sharing and prayer should never cease.
