Week 17: Prepositions & Phonics Activities

This week in circle we will continue to review
the feelings vocabulary with the sentence
structures How are you? and I am. The
children are very good at this now. We will
simly refine the ronunciation of a few
words.
This week we will also ractice !uestion and
answer with What is your name? and "y
name is# We will work towards two
children standing and facing each other. $ne
will ask the !uestion and the other answer.
We will continue to ractice number
recognition and counting. This week we will
look closely at numbers %&' and count %&%'.
(uring our usual routine we will cover the
weather and days of the week. We will also
sing a variety of songs.

This week a card game will be layed which involves / sets of cards. % card from each
ile will be turned over to reveal a colour of car* a colour of bag and a reosition. The
children will need to look at the / cards and then lace the correct car into the correct
lace with the correct bag.
. version of the game charades will be layed which will involve actions to guess the
vocabulary. .t first the teacher will erform the actions and the children will guess. $nce
this is mastered the children will be able to try to do the actions for others to guess.
Where0s the bear? Is a game where a bear will be hidden in the classroom. The children
will need to listen to the instructions to find out the location of the bear.
We will clarify all flash cards by laying games such as fly swat and go fish.

The children will be continuing to work on
the ne+t honics work book. This will ne+t
cover the letter o and then u. .fter each
letter there is another e+ercise which
re!uires encil control which will imrove
de+terity. The children will be taught to
concentrate on following the dotted
guideline carefully so as to achieve the
correct shaed lines.
There will be a few mini individual reviews
this week to make sure all children have
grased the letter sounds.
The children will also comlete a
worksheet on the letter u. It will hel with
letter recognition
. honics assort course will be designed
this week. The children will be re!uired to
ick u various letter sounds from both the
2olly 3honics cards and the letter cards
and ut them in a bo+.
Writin 'ractice
This week the children will be
comleting the ne+t age in their
numbers book which will incororate
the writing ractice and identification
of the number four. The children will
look at the direction in which to write
the number.

This week the cli is an alhabet song
which we have been watching to listen to
the sounds and look at the vocabulary
that matches each sound. $ur main focus
is currently the sounds. If you watch this
cli with your child* could you lease
ractice making the sounds with them?
Some sounds are hard to make as they
are not like any sounds that they would
normally make.
