Lighten Your Burden with Christ's Yoke

The document discusses how Christ teaches that his yoke makes life's burdens feel light and easy to bear. It says a yoke is meant not to burden an animal, but to make its load feel lighter when pulled. Christ sees how people take on life with pain, failure, tragedy or struggle, and offers his way as the solution - to take on life as he does, with his perspective and principles, and one will find his "yoke is easy." The rest of the document consists of church announcements and updates.

LIGHTEN YOUR BURDEN

Did you ever stop to ask what a yoke is really for? Is it to be a

burden to the animal which wears it? It is just the opposite: It is to
make its burden light. Attached to the oxen in any other way than by a
yoke, the plow would be intolerable; worked by means of a yoke, it is
light. [Christ] knew the difference between a smooth yoke and a
rough one, a bad fit and a good one. The rough yoke galled, and the
burden was heavy; the smooth yoke caused no pain, and the burden
was lightly drawn.
Christ saw that men took life painfully. To some it was a weariness,
to others failure, to many a tragedy, to all a struggle and a pain. How
to carry this burden of life had been the worlds problem. And here is
Christs solution: Carry it as I do. Take life as I take it. Look at it from
my point of view. Interpret it upon my principles. Take my yoke and
learn of me, and you will find it easy. For my yoke is easy, sits right
upon the shoulders, and therefore my burden is light. (Copied)

We are excited about some new
changes coming to the nursery!
First, Pam Bewley and Kristen
Shultz will be working the nursery
every Sunday morning. We hope
that adding some consistency will
improve our ability to care for your
little ones. Secondly, we will be
making some renovations to the
current nursery area. We hope to
update and revamp some of the toys
and amenities, as well as expand
and add an addition in order to make
room for all of our new arrivals! If
you are interested in helping, we
currently need volunteers to help in
the PM services. Please contact
Pam Bewley if you are interested in
serving our littlest church members!
Thanks, RCOG Nursery

FROM THE PASTOR
ANNOUNCEMENTS AND INFORMATION
August 10, 2014
April 8, 2012
Todays lesson will be an introduction to our new
teaching series: The Bible- Lights, Camera, and
Action! This morning children will learn how the
Bible came to be, and the importance of it. Like any
book its nice to know the background, when it is
written, if its fiction or non-fiction, who the author is,
etc. Except that this book is the most important book
we will ever read. It teaches us how to live our life,
comforts us in our times of need, helps us to know
who God is, and gives us some insight on our future
on earth and with God. Psalm 119:105 "Your word is
a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." Thank You
for supporting the Russellville Church of God
Childrens Ministries.

Pastor Jonathons Word of The Week
ITS THE ATTITUDE

Dr. Philip Amerson, president of Garrett-
Evangelical Seminary, tells of asking his 88-year-old
father how he was. The elderly retired ministered
answered with one word: Rejoicing. What a great
attitude!
Paul suffered numerous hardships including a
physical problem he called his thorn in the flesh,
yet he was a man in whom joy abounded. He asked
his friends at Philippi to have a mind to rejoice.
Rejoice in the Lord always; again I say Rejoice
(Philippians 4: 4).
It was his dependence upon Christ that enabled
him to find contentment and even joy in any and all
circumstances.
