Dear Parents,
The problem of head lice continues in our school.
We ask that you be diligent about screening your
child. Sharing hats, hair brushes, bike helmets,
riding helmets and car seats is never a good idea.
Unfortunately, head lice is not a new issue and the
advent of increased resistance has made it a constant
problem in schools, camps and afterschool programs
for sports where children are sharing helmets.
I am happy to address any questions you might have.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has
a very comprehensive link for the treatment and
recognition of head lice.

Middle School Honor Awards Assembly and Advisory Lunch
May 30
th
, 2014
12:30-1:30 in the MPR
Students are recognized in many ways throughout the year. The middle school Honors Assembly and Advisory Lunch gives
us the opportunity to honor our students accomplishments for the school year and to meet together one last time as an
advisory and as a middle school.
The assembly/lunch took place in the MPR as students and teachers gathered around a table to share lunch by advisory.
This year students had the option of ordering out (Golden Fortune, Jimmy Johns, or Dog & Burger), ordering a school lunch
or bringing their own lunch for this event. Seventh grade sold sodas and candy during the event as well.
During the Honor Awards Assembly, middle school students may have received certificates for the following awards.
Academic Merit
Sustained Interest, Effort, and Participation
Most Improved
Type to Learn Achievement Award
Resource Merit
National Foreign Language Awards
Individual Recognition
Fitness Awards
Forensic Recognition
Sports/Academic Pins
A slide show with pictures of this years middle school students was shown and tables were set up for each advisory to
have lunch together. The awards were distributed during lunch. Fun was had by all!

Liz Kollmansperger, Izzy, mother of seven, grandmother of nine, a wife of 46 years,
a dear friend; catalyst uniting the right people with important causes; leaver of wacky
phone messages and surprise gifts at ones door; the friend who knows that a cup of
7-11 coffee or a Doumars banana split can be the best medicine. She battled ovarian
cancer for 2 years with an infectiously positive attitude, a bright smile and countless
acts of kindness towards strangers and friends alike. She understood that the best
weapon against ovarian cancer was education, awareness and support.
