POLYGRAMS AND POLYGONS

THE TRIANGLE

The Triangle is the only Lineal Figure into which all surfaces can be reduced, for
every Polygon can be divided into Triangles by drawing lines from its angles to its centre.
Thus the Triangle is the first and simplest of all Lineal Figures.

We refer to the Triad operating in all things, to the 3 Supernal Sephiroth, and to inah
the 3rd Sephirah. !mong the Planets it is especially referred to Saturn" and among the
#lements to Fire. !s the colour of Saturn is blac$ and the Triangle that of Fire, the lac$
Triangle will represent Saturn, and the %ed Fire.
The 3 !ngles also symboli&e the 3 !ichemical Principles of 'ature, (ercury, Sulphur,
and Salt.
!s there are 3)** in every great circle, the number of degrees cut off between its
angles when inscribed within a +ircle will be ,-*., the number forming the astrological
Trine inscribing the Trine within a circle, that is, reflected from every second point.
THE SQUARE

The S/uare is an important lineal figure which naturally represents stability and
e/uilibrium. 0t includes the idea of surface and superficial measurement.
0t refers to the 1uaternary in all things and to the Tetrad of the Letter of the 2oly
'ame Tetragrammaton operating through the four #lements of Fire, Water, !ir, and
#arth. 0t is allotted to +hesed, the 3th Sephirah, and among the Planets it is referred to
4upiter. !s representing the 3 #lements it represents their ultimation with the material
form. The 3 angles also include the ideas of the - e5tremities of the 2ori&on, and the -
e5tremities of the (edian, which latter are usually called the 6enith and the 'adir7 also
the 3 +ardinal Points.
The number of degrees of a great circle cut off between its angles will be 900 the
number forming the astrological 1uartile or S/uare !spect, potent and evil.
There is only one way of inscribing a S/uare within a +ircle, that is, reflected from
every second point.

The Pentagon, first form, reflected from every second point.
The Pentangle can be traced in two ways7 reflected from every second point, when it is
called the Pentagon" and reflected from every third point, when it is called the Pentagram.
The Pentangle as a whole is referred to the 8th Sephirah 9eburah. The Pentagon
naturally represents the power of the Pentad operating in nature by the dispersal of the
Spirit and the 3 #lements through it. The number of degrees of a great circle cut off
between its !ngles is :-. the number forming the astrological 1uintile aspect, good in
nature and operation.
0t also answers to the dispersal force of the 5 letters ;#2#S2<!2.
0t is not so consonant to the 'ature of (ars as the Pentagram, and as a general rule the
Pentagon is not so powerful a symbol as the Pentagram.

The Pentangle - The Pentagram, second form" reflected from every 3rd point.
The Pentagram with a single point uppermost is called the =Sign of the (icrocosm>
and is a good symbol representing man with his arms and legs e5tended adoring his
+reator, and especially the dominion of the Spirit over the 3 #lements and conse/uently
of %eason over (atter.

ut with the single point downwards it is a very evil symbol, the head of the 9oat, or
demon?s head, representing the abasement of %eason beneath the blind forces of (atter,
the elevation of anarchy above order, and of conflicting forces driven by chance above
9od.
0t represents the concentrated force of the Spirit and the 3 #lements governed by the 5
letters of the name of the %estorer of all things ;#2#S2<!2, and also the ten Sephiroth
classified into 5 odd and 5 even numbers. 0t is especially attributable to the Planet (ars.
0t also shows the @erubim and the Wheel of the Spirit. 0t is a Symbol of tremendous
force, and of 2#2, the letter of the 9reat Supernal (other, !0(!2.

THE HEXANGLE
The 2e5agon, first form, reflected from every second point.
The 2e5angle can be traced in two ways as a complete symbol7 reflected from every
second point, when it is called the 2e5agon7 and reflected from every third point, when it
is called the 2e5agram. There is also a third form, called the pseudoA2e5agram.
The 2e5angle as a whole is referred to the )th Sephirah, Tiphareth.
The 2e5agon naturally represents the power of the 2e5ad operating in nature by the
dispersal of the rays of the Planets and the 6odiac emanating from the central Sun. The
number of degrees of a great circle cut off between its !ngles is )*. forming the
astrological Se5tile aspect, powerful for good.
0t is not so consonant to the solar nature as the 2e5agram. %emember then that the
2e5agon signifieth the dispersion, distribution, and radiation of a force but the 2e5agram
concentration. 2ence thou shalt use the 2e5agon for the spreading, and the 2e5agram for
the concentrating and sealing. Thus when there is need, thou canst compare, interpose
and combine them" but the =9on initiateth the whirl.>
The nature of the =whirl> is described in a document relating to the Bibratory Formula
of the (iddle Pillar, and the formation of the Telesmatic 0mages.

THE HEXANGLE

The 2e5angle, second form, reflected from every 3rd point.
The 2e5agram with a single point uppermost is called the =Sign of the (acrocosm,>
or greater world, because its si5 angles fitly represent the si5 days or periods of creation
evolved from the manifestation of the Triune. 0ts synthesis forms the seventh day or
period of rest summed up in the he5agonal centre.
0t represents especially the concentrated force of the Planets acting through the Signs
of the 6odiac, and thus sealing the !stral 0mage of nature under the presidency of the
Sephiroth" and also the Seven Palaces of the same. 0t is especially attributable to the Sun.
0t is a Symbol of great strength and power, forming with the +ross and the Pentagram, a
triad of potent and good symbols which are in harmony with each other.

THE HEXANGLE

The PseudoA2e5agram or irregular third form.
The pseudoA2e5agram an irregular third form, sometimes employed to denote the
presidency of the Sun and (oon over the 3 #lements united in and proceeding from the
Spirit.

THE HEPTANGLE

The 2eptagon, first form, reflected from every second point.
The 2eptangle can be traced in three ways reflected from every second point when it is
called the 2eptagon" and as the 2eptagram is reflected from every third point, and from
every fourth point.
The 2eptangle as a whole is referred to the Seventh Sephirah, 'et&ach.
The 2eptagon naturally represents the dispersal of the powers of the Seven Planets
through the wee$ and through the year. The number of degrees of a 9reat +ircle cut off
between its angles is 8,A3C:..
0t further alludes to the power of the Septenary acting through all things, as
e5emplified by the seven colours of the %ainbow.
0t is not so consonant to the nature of Benus as the 2eptagram reflected from every
fourth point.

THE HEPTANGLE

The 2eptagram, second form" reflected from every third point.
The 2eptagram reflected from every third point, yieldeth Seven Triangles at the apices
thereof" fitly representing the Triad operating in each Planet" and the Planets themselves
in the wee$ and in the year.
The wee$ly order of the Planets is formed from their natural order by following the
lines

ofthis 2eptagram" as hath been already shown in the -nd point of the 9rade of
6elator. 0t is not so consonant to the nature of Benus as the ne5t form.

THE HEPTANGLE
The 2eptagram, third form" reflected from every fourth point.
This 2eptagram is the Star of Benus and is especially applicable to her nature. !s the
2eptagram is the lineal figure of the Seven Planets, so is Benus, as it were, their 9ate or
#ntrance, the fitting symbol of the 0sis of nature, and of the 7 lower Sephiroth of the
ride.
Study this reference in connection with the Benus door of the Bault of the !depts,
described in the !deptus (inor grade.

THE OCTANGLE

The Dctagon, first form" reflected from every second point.
The Dctangle can be reflected in three ways" reflected from every second point when it
is called the Dctagon" and as the Dctagram reflected from every third, and from every
fourth point.
The Dctangle naturally representeth the power of the Dgdoad. The Dctagon showeth
the Dgdoad operating in nature by the dispersal of the rays of the #lements in their dual
aspect under the presidency of the E letters of the name ;od 2eh Bau 2eh and !leph
Faleth 'un ;od.

The number of degrees of a 9reat +ircle cut off between its angles is 450; forming the
astrological wea$ SemiA1uartile aspect, evil in nature and operation.
The Dctagon is not so consonant to the nature of (ercury as the Dctagram reflected
from every fourth point.

THE OCTANGLE

The Dctagram, second form, reflected from every third point.
The Dctagram reflected from every third point yieldeth eight Triangles at the apices
thereof, fitly representing the Triad operating in each #lement in its dual form, i.e., of
Positive and 'egative, under the powers of the name of Tetragrammaton !donai7 or as it
is written bound together, ;od !leph 2eh Faleth Bau 'un 2eh ;od.
0t is not so consonant to the nature of (ercury as the ne5t form. 0t is composed of two
S/uares united within a circle.

THE OCTANGLE

The Dctagram, third form" reflected from every fourth point.
This Dctogram is the Star of (ercury, and is especially applicable to his nature. 0t is
further a potent symbol representing the binding together of the concentrated Positive and
'egative forces of the #lements under the name of ;2B2!F'0. !nd forget not that
!F'0 is the $ey of ;2B2.

THE ENNEANGLE

The #nneangle, first form, reflected from every second point.
The #nneangle can be traced in four ways reflected from every second point when it is
called the #nneagon" and as the #nneagram reflected from every third, every fourth, and
every fifth point.
The #nneangle as a whole, is referred to the ninth Sephirah ;esod.
The #nneangle naturally representeth the power of the #nnead. The #nneagram
showeth the #nnead operating in nature by the dispersal of the rays of the Seven Planets
and of the 2ead and Tail of the Fragon of the (oon.
The number of degrees of a 9reat +ircle cut off between its angles is 3*.. The
#nneagon is not so consonant to the nature of the (oon as the #nneagram reflected from
every fifth point.

THE ENNEANGLE

The #nneagram, second form" reflected form every third Point. The #nneagram
reflected from every third point representeth the Triple Ternary operating both in the
Seven Planets with the 2ead and Tail of the Fragon of the (oon, and with their
!ichemical principles countercharged and interwoven.
0t is not as consonant to the nature of the (oon as the #nneagram reflected from every
fifth point.

THE ENNEANGLE

The #nneagram, third form, reflected from every fourth point.
The #nneagram reflected from every fourth point is composed of three Triangles
united within a +ircle, and alludes to the Triple Ternary of the Three !ichemical
principles themselves. 0t is not so consonant to the nature of the (oon as the ne5t form.

THE ENNEANGLE
The #nneagram, fourth form, reflected from every fifth point.
This #nneagram is the Star of the (oon and is especially applicable to her nature. 0t
represents her as the administrator to the #arth of the virtues of the Solar System under
the Sephiroth.

THE DEKANGLE

The Fe$agon, first form, reflected from every second point.
The Fe$angle can be traced in four ways" reflected from every second point when it is
called the Fe$agon and as the Fe$agram reflected from every third, every fourth, and
every fifth point.
The Fe$angle as a whole is referred to the Tenth Sephirah, (al$uth.
The Fe$angle naturally represents the power of the Fe$ad. The Fe$agon showeth the
Fe$ad operating in nature by the dispersal of the rays of the Ten Sephiroth therein.
The number of degrees of a 9reat +ircle cut off between its angles is 3)." the half of
the 1uintile astrological aspect.

THE DEKANGLE

The Fe$agram, second form" reflected from every third point.
The Fe$agram reflected from every third point is especially consonant to (al$uth and
shows the Triad operating through each angle of the two Pentagons within a circle, of
which it is composed. 0t alludes to the combination of the 3 !ichemical principles with
the Spirit and the 3 #lements in their Positive and 'egative form, under the presidency of
the ,* Sephiroth themselves.

THE DEKANGLE

The Fe$agram, third form, reflected from every fourth point.
This form of the Fe$agram especially alludes to the concentrated and continuous
operations of the Ten Sephiroth in nature. 0t is continuously reflected from every fourth
point.

THE DEKANGLE

The Fe$agram, fourth form, reflected from every fifth point.
The Fe$agram reflected from every fifth point is composed of two Pentagrams within
a +ircle. 0t shows the operation of the duplicated 2#2 of the Tetragrammaton and the
concentration of the Positive and 'egative forces of the Spirit and the four #lements
under the presidency of the Potencies of the Five in inah, the %evolutions of the forces
under !l(!, the 9reat (other.

THE ENDEKANGLE

The #nde$agram, first form, reflected from every second point.
The #nde$angle can be traced in five ways7 reflected from every second point, when it
is called the #nde$agon" and as the #nde$agram reflected from every third, fourth, fifth,
and si5th points.
The #nde$angles as a general whole are referred to the 1liphoth. Df its forms,
however, the one reflected from every fourth point represents their restriction, and
therefore it is not altogether to be classed with those which represent their operation in
nature, wherefore it is here separated from them and placed by itself at the end of the
boo$.
The #nde$angle naturally represents the evil and imperfect nature of the #nde$ad. The
#nde$agon represents the dispersal of the #leven +urses of (ount #bal through the
<niverse. Though they are paragraphed as ,- in the #nglish version of the ible, in the
2ebrew they are paragraphed as ,,, two being classed together.
The number of degrees of a great circle cut off between its angles is 3-AEC ,,*.

THE ENDEKANGLE

The #nde$agram, second form" reflected from every third point.
The #nde$agram reflected from every third point, represents the concentrated action of
evil in the !verse Triad, symboli&ed by the #leven Fu$es of #dom, the horns of the %ed
Fragon when he ariseth. This is a reference to one of the !ltar Fiagrams, the 9arden of
#den after the Fall.

THE ENDEKANGLE

The fourth form" reflected from every fifth point.
0t is a curious fact that the #nde$agram which can be formed reflected from every
fourth point is not so evil as the rest, and represents the restraining of the evil ones. This
abhorance of and incompatibility with the number four is another mar$ of the imperfect
nature of the #nde$ad when applied to the symbolism of the 1liphoth" for by the same
that they are shown, so is their restriction shown. ;et even the #nde$angle reflected from
every fourth point is not good in operation, but simply declareth the restriction of evil as
will be shown hereafter.
The #nde$agram reflected from every fifth point represents the concentrated force of
the averse and evil Sephiroth.
THE ENDEKANGLE
The #nde$agram, fifth form, reflected from every si5th point.
<nto this form of the #nde$agram are attributed the ,- Princes of the 1liphoth who
are the heads of the #vil operating in the months of the year.

THE DODEKANGLE
The Fode$angle, first form, reflected from every second point.
The Fode$angle can be traced in five ways" reflected from every second point, when it
is called the Fode$agon" and as the Fode$agram reflected from every third, fourth, fifth
and si5th point.
The Fode$angle as a general whole is referred to the 6odiac, and naturally represents
the powers of the Fode$ad. The Fode$agon shows the dispersal of the influence of the
6odiac through nature.
The number of degrees of a great circle cut off between its angles is 300 forming the
wea$ astrological semiASe5tile !spect, good in nature and operation.

THE DODEKANGLE
The Fode$agram, second form, reflected from every third point.
The Fode$agram reflected from every third point, is formed of two 2e5agons within a
+ircle, and represents the dispersal and concentration of the 6odiac in masculine and
feminine signs. The masculine being !ries, 9emini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius and !/uarius"
and the feminine Taurus, +ancer, Birgo, Scorpio, +apricorn and Pisces. !s this
Fode$agram is composed of twelve triangles, so do these allude to the 3 decanates, faces,
or sets of ,** of each Sign.

THE DODEKANGLE
The Fode$agram, third form, reflected from every fourth point
This Fode$agram is formed of three S/uares, representing the three 1uaternions of
!ngular, Succedent, +adent and (ovable, Fi5ed and +ommon.

THE DODEKANGLE
The Fode$agram, fourth form" reflected from every fifth point.
The Fode$agram reflected from every fifth point is formed of four Triangles within
+ircle, and refers to the concentrated force of the four Triplicities of the 6odiac operating
through nature.

THE DODEKANGLE

The Fode$agram, fifth form" reflected from every si5th point.
The Fode$agram reflected from every si5th point is a continuous figure" and
symboli&es the -3 Thrones of the schema established over the Positive and 'egative
potencies of the #lements in the 6odiac" and over the -3 hours in the day.

THE ENDEKANGLE

The #nde$agram third form" reflected from every fourth point.
Symboli&ing the restriction of the 1liphoth, #sther 0G, vs. 3 is =Behachashdrapanim,>
signifying lieutenants or deputy governors of provinces.
Feut. 0, vs. -. =There are eleven days Hourney from 2oreb by the way of (ount Seir
unto @adesh arnea.>
Feut. GGG00, vs. 3: is BeDmar !i #lohim T&ur +hasyahbah. =!nd he shall say
IWhere are their 9ods, their roc$ wherein they trustJ? or I#leven are their 9ods,? etc., or
!i are their 9ods K#lohimL.>

THE CROSS WITHIN THE CIRCLE
The Point within the +ircle represents the operation of @ether in general" and the
+ross within the +ircle that of +ho$mah, for therein are the roots of Wisdom. When
using these Lineal Figures in the formation of Talismans under the Sephiroth remember
that7

The Point within the Ci!"e i# Kethe$
The Co## within the Ci!"e i# Cho%&'h$
The Ti'n("e within the Ci!"e is inah.
The S)*'e within the Ci!"e is +hesed.

The remaining Sephiroth should have the double, or triple, or /uadruple, forms of their
lineal figures bound together in their talismans" e.g., in the 2eptangle for 'et&ach, the
2eptagon and the two forms of the 2eptagram should be united in the same Talisman, the
e5tremities of the angles coinciding.
The #nde$angle is appropriate to the 1liphoth.
The Fod e$angle is appropriate to the 6odiacal forces in (al$uth. @ether that of the
Primum (obile" +ho$mah the Sphere of the 6odiac in command" and (al$uth that of the
#lements.
!nd many other meanings are bound together in the lineal figures besides those which
are given in this boo$. Two or more different forms may be bound together in the same
Talisman.
