Language Arts
We will continue with our
StoryWorks , Daily 3 reading and our
opinion pillar. We will also investigate the
national parks and guided reading.
Writing
Tell a good story! We will spend the
next week working on our fun activity
narrative.
Math
Area and perimeter of rectangles,
parallelograms, and triangles will be
reviewed before heading into Unit 12.
There, we compare items and events by
looking at the rate something costs or
occurs.
FAMILY LETTERS can be found on-line
this year! As in past years, they contain unit
vocabulary, activities, and selected homework
answers. You can find these newsletters at:
hLLp://everydaymaLh.uchlcago.edu/parenLs/4Lh-
grade/famlly-leLLers/ If you cannot access them,
please let me know.
Social Studies
We are finishing up the Midwest
region on-line books and will soon post them
on LittleBirdTales.com! Be on the lookout
for our published authors!! We have
already begun our travels in the West
Region including the Mountain, Southwest,
and Pacific sub-regions! This week we will
map the region and look more into the
physical features and economy of the
different sub-regions. States and capitals
practice will be coming home soon.
Science - from the desk of Mrs. Liporto
We are nearing the end of our
explorations with magnets and electricity.
All students were successful in creating a
string of lights this week that was able to
stay lit even when one lightbulb burnt out.
Ask your fourth grader which type of
circuit they used for this and why it was a
better design choice. This week we will
work with electromagnets, combining our
knowledge of both electricity and
magnetism. Looking ahead, our Electricity
and Magnetism Assessment will be on
Wednesday, May 28th. Study guides will
go home early this week and can be found
on the class blog.
Happy Birthday!
