Personal Statement
Born in a professional family, hard work ethics, integrity and punctuality were ingrained early in me. I
graduated from Bangalore University, a prestigious Indian university in 1993 as Bachelor in Civil
Engineering (B.E.) and latter completed MBA from Management College of Southern Africa in 2007.
Immediately after graduation I joined national firms in New Delhi and worked in procurement,
negotiations and contract management in the field of Roads, Water supply, residential cum multistoried
buildings, factories, farmhouse, religious and educational buildings under various conditions and people
with multiple cultural backgrounds. I had opportunity to complete many projects. I gained practical
experience in bringing people together and foster collaboration to increase the out put and achieve
goals.
In April 2003, I secured Procurement and Contracting Specialist position in First National Water
Development Program (World Bank project) in Mozambique. I liked traveling and was enthused by
grandness of the project. I was responsible for contract management and procurement. Before I joined
the first national water development project most of the project activities were not started and many
activities in process were running late. The procurement plans were not at all updated regularly. With
my novel approach and hard working, we managed to update the procurement plan regularly and
projects were completed on time and budget available. Successful completion of the project gave me
opportunity to work on Education Sector Strategic Program in Mozambique another reputed World
Bank project.
In short 3 years I have successfully completed procurement process of more than 100 contracts for
Goods, works and service consisting of different values. Majority of the procurement processes were
completed in time and under budget. A few which were delayed due to supplier’s non performance at
time, non-clear technical specification and some time conflict with conditions of contracts. Which were
shorted out by negotiation, clarification and applying provisions of the contracts such as extensions of
time, liquidated damages etc.
During my involvement on Education Sector Strategic program, Mozambique 2004 and Second
National Water Development Project between 2005 and 2008, I trained procurement officers and
assistants on project to handle the procurement and contract activities. I also emphasized on
communication, cooperation and positive outlook. I have advised them to be resourceful, sharpen the
skill perennially and be able to adapt to ever-changing economic markets that future brings. For the
same reason, I also took an MBA course from Management College of South Africa and currently taking
Masters in Business law from India.
Teaching and personnel training is one of many things I like about my work. I have been involved in
training of junior engineers and government employees in India as well as Mozambique and currently
responsible for providing training in Lesotho too. Currently I am working on Millennium Challenge
Corporation Funded Project in Lesotho as Senior Procurement Specialist.
Having in depth knowledge of contracting procedures and policies and experience in each stage of
procurement and contracting I have been able to successfully complete the projects on schedule and
under allocated budget. Mine working strategy includes keeping the audit and legal requirement in mind
while taking any action, maximum utilization of resources available through proper planning, right
allocation of resources and timely communications, keeping in mind the risks involved at each stages
and incorporating the duration for them in plan, and be ready with the mitigations measures to be taken.
I am proud of achievements and experiences accrued over last 15 years in the arena of procurement
and contracting including negotiations, supplier evaluation and post award contract administration,
timely and effective supervision, assessment, reporting and monitoring. Optimum utilization of the
available resources and customer satisfaction are very important to me.
My ambition is to work and grow as Procurement, Contract and Legal Specialist in an institution where
integrity, professionalism and top quality result is not an occurrence but a way of life. I am energetic,
team player and enjoy my work. My success has come largely due to my high energy, sound
communication skills and ability to integrate quickly into a new organization, technology and field.
I am eager to contribute to the organization where my qualities match the requirements and thus carry
the potential for mutual growth.
