Ntglrt Ride at Oak ltlorrntain
By Derrick Seys Saturday November 11 marked a very special day for mountain bikes at Oak Mountain. Thanks to the organization of President Bill Johnson and cooperationwith the to host Park, BUMP was allcrurred the first night ride on Oak Mountain's Red trail. From the North Trail head, we signed in, bundted up for the cool ride, separated into two grouPs, and checked our light alignment. The night-riders included Andrerar K., Christine H., Dee, David and Kim Passmore, Julian, Russ H., Hugh L., Mark R., Chris G., Hardwick, Kenner Moffow, and myself. The ride Proved to be quite a challenge. The trail conditions u/ere excellent, but the fall foliage had found ils waY to earth. The leaves did an excellent iob of camouflaging several @mers, and power management was the key issue. The mosl sPlendidjoYs were riding under the bright moonlight and the frequent stoPs to re-g!"cup and discuss the spectacular night. BUMP has organized night rides for the next few full moons. The next scheduled ride is December 10h meeting at 6pm at the North trailhead. Bill Johnson is the ride captain (678-9752). Helmets, lights, and sign in are required. We will have three distinct groups to accommodate all skill levels. Expect to ride a slonrer Pace and bring lights / batteries for at least an hour. Call the hottine for late breakingchanges

We finally received some seriously needed qain, but not until after the November workday. Due tc, these conditions, the crew took off to cover the cut offs that seem to developover time aroundsomethe corners. took off to Doug and Jake Daughhetee ride the loop and addressthe "extra'trail that had appearedover the past month. They picked up surroundingsticks and branches to deter riders from cutting Torn K. trekkedout corners.Meanwhile, on foot to do the same. lnjury is keeping him off the bike, but he stillcontributed. The cut-offswere coveredand the falling leaves have added a naturaleffect.Their work may gg unnoticed, but that is actuallya compliment.
