The history of Guitarras Manuel Rodriguez guitars is as rich as the woods from which these sophisticated, distinctive instruments are crafted. Still a family-run company, and now under the stewardship of Manuel Rodriguez Jr. the third generation since the passing of Manuel Rodriguez Sr. in 2008, Manuel Rodriguez guitars are at once imbued with the deepest sense of tradition and with the forward-thinking air of pushing down 21st century boundaries. Manuel Rodriguez Sr.'s long, distinguished career resulted in some of the world's finest playing and sounding instruments, with beauty that has remained unsurpassed. Using only the finest woods, and hand-forming each to precise tolerances, Rodriguez Sr. developed distinctive guitars fit for the worlds preeminent artists. His son, Manuel Rodriguez Jr., has brought his dynamic and daring business senses to the brand, getting his family's guitars into the hands of world leaders like Jimmy Carter, supporting charitable organisations, and promoting ecological sustainability issues.

With the mantle of producing the worlds finest classical guitars passed to Manuel Jr. and Norman Rodriguez following their father's death, the brothers continue the tradition of crafting exceptional instruments deserving of the family name. All Manuel Rodriguez guitars are produced using time honoured traditional methods, with no detail too minor to merit attention. The guitars are constructed by a team of luthiers with decades of experience, in a totally moisture-controlled environment, with repetitive tasks requiring consistent precision accomplished using modern woodworking machines, many of which have been custom designed by Manuel Rodriguez to emulate traditional hand processes. Traditional methods of hand forming and gluing used to ensure each guitar achieves the perfection of a master-built instrument. Precise tonal balance comes from perfected production techniques and generations of experience among Manuel Rodriguez's luthiers, who work to ensure the finished instruments purity of tone. The tone, resonance and beauty of fine guitars are all dependent upon the woods from which they are made. The timbers used in the construction of Rodriguez guitars are painstakingly chosen by grain, weight and density from logs which have been cut for at least two years, then collected and carefully aged for between five and ten years, and finally impeccably matched into sets to guarantee the highest quality. The instruments which Manuel and Norman build, and the contemporary rendition of the late Manuel Rodriguez Seniors personal guitar are all produced using stocks of tonewoods legally harvested in the middle of the last century, and which have been stored in ideal conditions, preparatory to releasing them to produce some of the most beautiful guitars created anywhere in the world. Manuel Rodriguez guitars are famous for their comfort and playability. Selected light and stiff Sapele or Honduras Cedar is used for the necks ebony-reinforced on certain models ensuring rigidity and long-term stability. Meanwhile, Indian rosewood or ebony fingerboards, accurately fretted with German nickel silver frets, with their beauty enhanced by handsome, intricately engraved European tuning machines, provide a consistently superb playing experience. The use of naturally dried tonewoods, such as mahogany, cypress and Indian rosewood, all renowned for their hardness, stiffness, resonance and beautiful coloration, are aged for ten years or more before being selected and often bookmatched for the bodies, to impart the exquisite sound of the classical guitar and create a durable object of beauty, featuring Brazilian rosewood on the premium models. For the living, beating heart of the guitar, the top, carefully selected solid spruce, solid cedar, or Manuel Rodriguez's unique 'Caf Crme' blend of the two, is used to ensure a powerful and balanced tonality. Transforming the most important functional part of the guitar into an object of beauty with the use of exquisite, intricate handmade multicoloured soundhole rosettes, Rodriguez guitars look as enchanting as they sound. Manuel Rodriguez bridges are made of Brazilian and Indian rosewood to ensure the sound of the strings and the dynamics of the players style are fully transmitted to the body, the amplifier of the guitar. For those who want to enhance the richness of a handcrafted guitar with the power of electronics, Manuel Rodriguez Cutaway electric models feature state-of-the-art onboard electronic pickups and preamp systems for excellent response, balance and tonal adjustability.
