llie G oulding began song writing at the tender age ofj ust 15. Even at this age,she was winning singing competitions and by the age of14,was playing the guitar. She is now one ofthe f ew artists who writes and plays their own music live on stage. Ellie s musical style ranges from pop to indie and all ofher songs have messages and a story to tell. Ellie G oulding had the privilege to play at the royal wedding f or Prince W illiam and K ate Middleton,which all goes to show how widely respected and liked she is,even by the most in uential f amily in the world! Ellie plays a wide range ofgigs internationally;her most recent visit to Birmingham was on the 27th ofN ovember. e show was very inspirational with f ans commenting that,she has really a very unique and beautiful voice with a presence that connects with the audience instantly. H er acoustic sounds lled the stadium leaving a lasting presence and inspiration to all. H er raw talent is hard to nd,a rare quality to see in an artist so young. Too many artistsin the music industry today,use computer generated sounds to x the rawness oftheir sounds and make them who they are today. Ellie is an artist who uses nothing but the pure sound of her voice and her guitar. Bef ore her concert,Ellie was able to sit down and answer some questions f or us including how she got started in the music industry and how she f eels about her songs being played all around the world.

A re you pl anni ng on goi ng on tour w i th anyone? Yes!K aty Perry has asked me to go on tour with her and open her shows and I am so excited to do so! K aty is an amazing artist;her music is very inspirational to me and it will be great to be part ofthe tour! W hat i s your favouri te shop to buy cl othes? W ell to be honest,I go f or convenience more than anything. H owever,I m lucky because in the part ofLondon I live in; I have Selfridges and many more shops j ust down the road, but Selfridges is easy to shop in because it has so many shops inside. Yes,I d say Topshop and U rban O ut tters are my top two! D oes i t annoy you bei ng com pared to other arti stes? Yes. N ot because I think I m better than other artiste,but purely because my songs are written by me,they have meaning and they are part ofme. I can t see how I can be accused ofbeing the same as other artists when obviously we re di erent. D o you get nervous before goi ng on stage? W ell,I used to get very nervous but now I ve mainly channelled it into excitement - I love being on stage. I f eel at home when I m singing,and seeing my f ans sing my song back to me,words cannot describe how amazing f eel. W hat arti sts i nspi re you? ere are so many artistes that have inspired me,when growing up I listened to Bj ork,I actually went out and bought her A ll T ime H itsCD as it was the only one in the shop. I use to go home and listen to it and it was like my only escape privacy and I was j ust able to let go ofeverything else around me.. A rtists like A del and Beyonce are amazing artists and their words inspire me. To be f air though most ifnot all of my songs are based on how I f eel and an experience that I have been through,so my lif e inspires me. If you coul d be any arti st i n the w orl d,w ho w oul d you be and w hy? I think it d be Jamie W oon;I adore him so much he is amazing! W hat s next for El l ie G oul di ng? I m heading o to the U SA !I m very excited to explore A merica and to try breaking the U SA and getting my music well known over there. It will be insane! It was a great privilege talking with Ellie G oulding and I m sure her future will be very bright. She is an honest down to earth girl,and she lets the music do all the talking. It goes to show it doesn t matter where you live or how much money you earn,ifyou work hard and have raw talent like Ellie you can succeed.

H ow w as your chil dhood? W ell,I grew up in the country side,literally in the middle of no-where!H owever,I didn t live in a stately manor,it was a small council house and I shared a room with my two sisters. I use to love exploring outside and playing by an old rail track. W e always used to make our own swings and games;I am a country girl at heart as surprising as that may sound. I had a good childhood, nothing too out ofthe ordinary. W hat s the favouri te song you have w ri tten? To be honest,all my songs are special to me in all di erent ways; they all tell certain stories. H owever,at the moment I would say my f avourite song is W onder W omanpurely because the video was such a laugh to make and it was great fun working with T inie Tempah. at l eads m e to m y next question,w hat w as i tl ike w orki ng wi th T i nie Tem pah? It was great fun;he s a great artiste and has a lot ofgreat ideas. H is style ofmusic works well with what I wanted the song to sound like and it was a good opportunity to work with him. I sung with him a f ew years back,and we exchanged numbers. en T inie came out with Pass O utand Friskyand exploded onto the music industry and he gave me a call one day so I j ust went n to the studio and worked with labyrinth and T inie on the record. T inie is a very down to earth,respected and genuine guy; I d love to work with him again soon.
