THE REVIEW
The movie is about the renowned Majestic hotel where in the manager Robert Grant and his two kids also reside there. The movie is a comedy featuring Sam the orangutan who runs amok in the hotel. The movie shows quite a few aspects of hospitality as the backdrop is set in a premier hotel. Thus we will be reviewing these aspects of hospitality shown in the movie, which would be supported by a description of the incident shown in the movie. Thus the review is given in point form below. The first aspect that we would like to start with is check in of guests, as shown in the movie there was an online registration system for the guests as we see in the movie that the kids book a room with a fake identity for dunston and we also presume that there was telephonic booking of rooms as the reception was seen using the phone regularly and also there is direct check in option for guests at the reception as we see the inspector doing so in the movie. As seen in the movie the majestic hotel had the following kinds of rooms and facilities Deluxe Room Executive Room Royal Suite Spa and fitness centre - Enjoy a brisk work-out at our state-of-the-art fitness centre and a full fledged spa with massage room and other facilities. o Complimentary Airport transfers. o A Travel desk for onward arrangements. o Roof top dog walk As seen in the movie there an inspection by a ratings agency to the hotel for reviewing its rating as the majestic was a 5 star rated hotel it was expected by the owner that they might get a 6 star rating. Now as far as the ratings are concerned they are no set international norms of International organization keeping tabs on it. We also presume that the hotel has an ISO 14001 certification as there was a green house just near the entrance of the company. o o o o
PROBLEMS
As the movie was made in the year 1996 they are a few flaws that we observed with respect to todays standards and thus we mention them below. The first problem that we saw in the hotel was that the security system was substandard Dunston was easily smuggled into the hotel. The hotel does not have a day care centre for kids as the managers young son used to roam about freely in the hotel. The hotel went ahead with the crystal ball even though they knew that there was an animal on the loose in the hotel.
Insufficient action was taken when one of the ladies jewels were stolen in the movie.
SUGGESTIONS
The first suggestion would be beefing up the security by having scanners at the entrance of the hotel. The second would be verifying the guests identity before letting them check in. Setting up a day care centre in the hotel would also be a good option as this would not lead to undue situations involving children. The law enforcements authorities should be informed immediately in case of thefts as delayed action can lead to loss on part of the customer and lead to loss of goodwill. They could have held the crystal ball on a later date or could have held it at a separate venue as it got ruined in the end and this would have surely lead to loss in reputation as the ratings audit failed.
