PROJECT CATEGORY

INTRODUCTION
Hospital is a place where a patient gets the healing from his/her ailments. Hospital is a place, which could be a work place for a lot of people. We always relate solace or calmness with a hospital. But think if the HOSPITAL Management System is not up to the mark then how a patient can find a relief? I had tried to answer this HOW by this project on HOSPITAL Management System. I had tried my level best that after implementing this software a lot of thing can be handled easily without any hassle. HOSPITAL Management System can be categorized in two different sections. The one is Administration and the other one is patients details. I had maintained both of these in this project. Here with this project one can view and maintain the records of doctors, Rooms, and patients from one place only. This Project has developed an integrated HOSPITAL Management System System (HMS), which addresses all the major functional areas of modern multi-specialty hospitals. Present software is enables better patient care, patient record safety, efficiency and reduced costs. It provides easy access to critical information there by enabling the management to take better decisions on time. The package has been developed in the very popular Object Oriented Programming Language Visual Basic, which provides the benefits of streamlining of operations, enhanced administration and control, improved response, cost control and improved profitability. This software can be easily customized to the requirements of any hospital.

OBJECTIVE
This project on HOSPITAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM comes in customizable levels of presenting hospital related information and features.

Computers are versatile; we cannot neglect the presence of computers in our day-to-day life. Working with Computers helps to complete work fast and accurately. It helps to solve tedious problems easily.

This software provides very quick and accurate information about Hospital, controlled management and provides easy management of patient records, about their doctor, room charge, nursing charge etc.

Earlier, this process was manual with the help of general registers. In such system it is very difficult to get the list of the empty rooms/beds, doctor visits, patient discharge details etc within the Eves Hospital. But this software package solves the all such problems. If one knows the room no, or the patient name, then one could easily get the relevant information. .

The software of this project has been written in Visual Basic mainly because of its suitability for this type of application. The system produces outputs in the form of screen and reports for queries. Interactive FORMS are used for data entry.

During the course of the development of this project a lot of thinking went into the selection of different procedures and steps. Various new procedures were

evolved so that all the different nagging problems and spur at the moment hassles could be eliminated to the extent, so that the access to user can be at ease and the users does not face any difficulty.

Efforts have been made to make the system user-friendly that can be handled by a novice. The software will help in converting the realms and realms of procedural jotting, which was done manually, into a complete computerized version and will help in storing valuable information in the safest way possible. This project can also be used as a build-up for the development of more advanced version with the change in needs in due course of time.

SYSTEM ANALYSIS
Initia l Inv estiga tio n: The initial investigation system has the objective of determining the validity of the users for the candidate system and whether a feasibility study should be conducted. The objective should be understood with in the framework of the Hospital. The basic steps that were followed during the initial investigation: Recognition of Needs: To recognize what the user needs from the system and the success of the system depends upon how accurately a problem is defined, through investigation, and properly carried out through the choice of solution. Users need identification and analysis is concerned with what the user needs rather than what he/she wants. What is the problem? : -

What problem the users are facing which has motivated them to ask for the candidate system? What all short coming do the existing system is having? What all changes do the users request? Onsite observation technique: The major objective of on-site observation is to get as close as possible to the "real system being studied, the following questions were answered during the onsite observation technique: -

What kind of system is it?

What does it do? Who runs the system? Who are the important people in it? What is history of the system? How did it get to its present stage? What Kind of system is it in comparison with other systems in the organization? How many staff members are involved with the present system? Which type of information management wants? What are the general problems of the patient regarding current payment system? How reliable is present system? What are the problems, which are faced by visiting doctors? How users get out present problems? What is the major problem of current system? Etc.

Different tools used for the structured analysis are: Data flow diagrams Data dictionary Structured English Decision trees Decision tables

In case of HOSPITAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM application:

Benefits are: Reduces the paper work Automate the existing system. Cost of paper is also reduced. Data is more safeguarded. Solve the doctors problems. Solve the patient problems. Provide better management for the Hospital.

Costs are: Two-computer system, with operating system. Manpower for the development,

ABOUT VISUAL BASIC

Introducing Visual Basic

A Story About Bill and Paul

Back in the early 1970s, Bill and Paul were friends at Lakeside School in Seattle, Washington. Bill and Paul enjoyed working with computers and wrote many games they could play - games like TicTac-Toe and moon landing games. These computer games were

written in a computer language called BASIC (which stands for Beginners All-Purpose Symbolic Instruction Code). When the first small computer was developed in the mid 1970s, Bill and Paul had just started college. They had improved their computer skills by then and were able to tell that new computer how to use the BASIC language. They actually sold their version of the BASIC language to other people (it cost $350 and was stored on a cassette tape). They started making money-selling BASIC and decided to start a company. You may have heard of their company - Microsoft! Bill is Bill Gates, who still runs Microsoft and is worth many billions of dollars, and Paul is Paul Allen, who no longer works for Microsoft, but has his own business ventures including computers and software, professional sports teams, and real estate development. 24

Yes, the first product sold by Microsoft was the BASIC computer language. Microsofts name for their BASIC language product has changed over the years, having names like GW-BASIC, QuickBasic and QBasic, with the newest version being called Visual Basic. Visual Basic is one of the easiest programming languages to learn. Yet, even though it is easy to learn and to use, Visual Basic can also be used to develop very powerful computer programs. Many computer games are written in Visual Basic, businesses use Visual Basic to manage their databases, webmasters use Visual Basic in developing web pages, and people like yourself use Visual Basic to build Windows applications they want and need in their everyday life. In these notes, you will learn how to use Microsofts Visual Basic to write your own computer programs. You may not become a billionaire like Bill and Paul, but hopefully youll have some fun learning a very valuable skill.

25

FUTURE SCOPE

Presently this software will be designed for EVES HOSPITAL MEERUT and customize as per their requirements. But adding some more functionality and features this software will work for any hOSPITAL Management System.

NOTE : This project is subjected to change as per users requirements.
