ANTHEM:

What I Have I Will Give Thee

*CALL to WORSHIP Consider the great saints of the church: The greatest are those who gave all of themselves to serve all others. Jesus did not come to be served, but to serve as well. He is the example for all Christians to follow. Many Christians have great qualities. But true greatness is achieved only in self-sacrifice for the sake of others. The Church is Christs servant arena in the world today. We pray that our sacrifices will keep it great! Marks Gospel starts with Jesus Baptism on the Jordan River. And so should we! Come, let us sing together! *HYMN #241G When Jesus Came to Jordan *CALL TO and PRAYER of CONFESSION We struggle with human nature, O Father God, wanting some assurance that we have achieved success. And in our efforts we hurt feelings; we break friendships; and we fail to serve our Lord. Forgive us for selfish motivation which makes us stumble over those we ought to serve. Quiet the unrest of our pride, and share with us the glory of being humble servants. We pray this through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, in whose name we now confess silently... *ASSURANCE of PARDON and *GLORIA PATRI (#733) *AFFIRMATION of FAITH Apostles Creed (back)

THE APOSTLES CREED I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth: And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, Suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; The third day he rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
