My Magazine Through researching I have decided that I would like my magazine to be R&B/Hip Hop genre.
R&B
In the 1980s, when the disco era came to an end, a new generation of producers began adding slick drum machine beats and synthesizers to AfricaAmerica music. When R&B first began it was very pop oriented. Janet Jackson and he producers, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis crafted a new sound that fuses the rhythmic elements of funk and disco, along with heavy doses of synthesizers, percussion, sound effects, and rap music sensibility. In the same year Teddy Riley began producing R&B recording that included hip hop influences. By the 2000s, the similarity between R&B and Hip Hop had increased. Mainstream R&B has a sound more based on rhythm than hip hop soul had, it lacks the hard core and soulful urban grinding feel on which hip hop soul relied. In 2004, all 12 songs that topped the Billboard hot 100 AfricanAmerican recording artists and accounted for 80% of the number-one R&B hits that year. This shows how popular R&B music is which means that there is a bigger target audience when using this genre.
Popular RnB/Hip hop Artists
According to [Link] the top current R&B/Hip Hop artists are; 1. Jay-Z 2. Eminem 3. Notorious B.I.G 4. Kanye West 5. Lil Wayne 6. Drake 7. Nicki Minaj 8. Dizzee Rascal 9. Tinie Tempah [Link] Skakur As these are the top artists of the recent studies into R&B/Hip Hop, it is a way of making your magazine sell well by featuring some of these people in it. By adding image (especially on the front cover) and articles of the artists into the magazine it will attract people to buy the magazine and read /learn about the specific artist featured and perhaps why they are in the top ten.
R&B/Hip Hop Clothing
These are the types of clothes my images will include. The models I use for in my images will wear clothes which follow this type of trend. These clothes are stereotypically Hip Hop/R&B style.
Interview with Hip/Hop artists
This interview is with one the worlds most popular hip hop artists, Lil Wayne. In the interview the interviewer asks Weezy about how he is doing in the music industry, hois process. The interview is very laid back and Lil Wayne is very open about how he is doing. This makes the viewer feels very involved and laid back themselves. They are situated in a living room type area whilst Lil Wayne tucks into his food. This also makes the interview seem very relaxed. They are both wearing very casual clothing which suggests how laid back his lifestyle must be.
This interview is with Nicki Minaj, one of the worlds most famous rap artists. In this interview we learn about her new (of the time) album, her fans and her life in general. She is dressed in very Hip Hop orientated clothing (Large Chain) which represents her type of music. She is very laid back in this interview and it doesnt appear too formal as she get up and walks away at one point.
