The Secret Lair
(Project 2)

A good place to start would be to find out the
Definitions
Lair-
of my key components
a) A wild animals resting place, especially one that is well hidden b) A secret and private place in which a person seeks concealment or seclusion.
ArachnidA class of chelicerate arthropods that includes spiders, scorpions, mites and ticks. They have become adapted for a terrestrial life and possess book lungs and tracheae and have silk, or poison glands. Comes from the Greek arakhn -Spider
Knighta) (In the Middle Ages) A man who served his sovereign or Lord as a mounted Soldier in armour b) (In the Middle Ages) A man raised by a sovereign to honourable military rank after service as a page or squire. c) A man devoted to the service of a woman or cause. My first
thoughts - having discovered the meanings of these
words- are to explore the Legend of King Arthur and his knights; what with their being the stereotypical image of a Knight. I also wish to look at miniature worlds, as they appear to be a more interesting subject to look at.
So what to look at for ideas? There are many animated
films featuring tiny characters, ordinarily large characters being
miniaturized and vice versa. These could be the
Inspiring
productions I need
Thumbelina (Film: 1994) Mousehunt (Film: 1997) A Bugs Life (Film: 1998) Antz (Film: 1998) The Ant Bully (Film: 2006) Bee Movie (Film: 2007) Ratatouille (Film: 2007)
James and the Giant Peach (Film: 1996)
The Tale of Despereaux (Film: 2008) 9 (Film: 2009) The Borrowers (Film: 1997/ Television Film: 2011)
Inspiring characters would include noble
characters, seeing as Knights in the most case have been stereotypically labelled as brave warriors; always facing the most adverse conditions
Here are some examples, mainly of little heroes. (Read images from left to right) King Arthur- from the most recent television production of Merlin. Spud Spiller- from the film The Borrowers. Despereaux- from the Film The Tale of Despereaux 9- from the film 9 Reepicheep- from The Chronicles of Narnia Novels by C.S. Lewis (also in the Prince Caspian Film,) 7, 8- from the film 9
Now with an image of the heroes and some key productions in mind its time to find some
Inspiring spaces
I imagine an Arachnid knight to have a fair few human-like possessions. Such as weapons and armour, possessions and the like all organized in a little hide out somewhere. Spaces of that nature, filled with very small pieces of human technology being utilized in other ways can be seen in films such as The Borrowers and 9.
