Preparing for Gods Word
ORGAN PRELUDE: Meditation on Trust in Jesus Kirkpatrick CHORAL INTROIT *CALL to WORSHIP Life is not without its storms; but remember, our storms are not without our Savior! We know fear, but we also know faith. And Christ Jesus has stood by us in all our storms. Our Lord has power to bring peace to our troubled souls, if only we trust Him to be the Lord He surely is. We know who Jesus is, and trust Him to overcome any fear which would seek to destroy our faith. Come, let us offer unto God our Praise and Thanksgiving! *HYMN #722G Praise and Thanksgiving *CALL TO and PRAYER of CONFESSION O Father God, we confess this morning that fear has left its mark on each one of us. We desire faith, and many times feel strong; but our mortal nature seems to have an overpowering force, and we become troubled for fear that life would destroy us. Forgive us when our faith does not reveal the presence of Christ Jesus who is able to calm our anxiety. Undergird us with confidence in our Lords presence, that we may be defended against any and all tribulation. We pray this through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, in whose name we now confess silently... *ASSURANCE of PARDON and *GLORIA PATRI *AFFIRMATION of FAITH- Apostles Creed (back)

Friends of Jean Webster is located at The First Presbyterian Church on Pennsylvania Avenue in Atlantic City. Jean Webster was formally a chef in the casinos in Atlantic City. She saw so many homeless eating out of the garbage that she decided to do something about it. She started feeding them out of her home and eventually moved to the First Presbyterian Church. Jean and her friends serve 300400 guests per day five days per week. Much of the food is donated by the casinos. Jean likes to call her kitchen the house of happiness and anyone who comes in is a guest. No one is ever turned away and all the staff is volunteer. Jean says she is just following Gods orders. I just rely on God. Its like the loaves and the fishes. He never lets me go dry. AC Rescue Mission is a nonprofit, Christian social service ministry that has been helping the poor and the homeless in southern New Jersey since 1964.
