Poetry Writing Task 2

Listen and follow along as your teacher reads this Writing Prompt. Then complete the writing task. Now you will do a writing assignment. The poem, A Bird Came Down the Walk, may give you ideas for your writing. Be sure to use words that make your details and descriptions clear. Your composition should include good elements of writing. Summarize the story using 5 vocabulary words from the poem. (SLO 4 & 8) Identify the theme and choose two details from the poem that illustrate this theme, and explain how they are connected to the theme. (SLO 1 & 2) Select a quote from the beginning of the poem to explain using specific details from the poem. (SLO 3 & 8) Write a narrative in the voice of the bird as the bird responds back to the speaker in the poem. (SLO 15 & 16) Be sure to: a. Use dialogue and descriptions b. Act as the bird would in the experience and events of the poem. c. Write in a clear and organized way demonstrating a purpose and fits the audience.
