(a) Simultaneous Linear Equations
1. Solve x 3 y = 7 (1)
2 x + y = 0 (2)

(i)[By Substitution Method]


(2) y = 2 x (3)
Subs (3) into (1):
x 3(2 x) = 7
7x = 7
x =1
Subs x = 1 into (2):
y = 2(1) = 2
Ans: x = 1, y = 2.

(ii)[By Elimination Method]


(1) 2: 2 x 6 y = 14 ..(4)
(2) (4): 7 y = 14
y=2
Subs y = 2 into (2):
2x + 2 = 0
2 x = 2
x = 1
Ans: x = 1, y = 2.

(iii)[By Using Matrix]
