Engineering Beam Deflection Guide

The document discusses beam deflections using the area-moment method, providing examples of calculating moment diagrams by parts for simply supported and cantilever beams. It includes problems finding the deflection at a point on a simply supported beam, determining the minimum height of a cantilever beam to limit deflection to 10mm, and finding the maximum deflection of a rectangular beam.

Deflection of Cantilever Beams

Problem 2: The cantilever beam has a rectangular cross-section 50 mm wide with h to be determined. Find the minimum height h so that the maximum deflection is not to exceed 10 mm. Use E = 10GPa.

Problem 3. Find maximum deflection of the rectangular beam (50 mm width x 150 mm height). Use E = 69GPa.
