[email protected]The summer / autumn rains have been excellent for native tree seed production. For example I have seen both totara and kahikatea trees almost orange / red due to the huge berry abundance. There is no current shortage of food for the birds. There is much to report. Whakaupoko Landcare Structure Change At the coming AGM I will be proposing that we change our structure to have a formal link with Patumahoe Village Incorporated. This is to share in the benefits of for example a website and publishing local newsletters while still retaining some of the individuality of each group. Currently Patumahoe Village is establishing a website that we can be part of. Also they are planp.ing to have quarterly print & email newsletters.
Patumahoe Rugby Football Club will be celebrating their 125th anniversary in 2011.

structure Plan 2012 Project
We are trying to consult and contact as many residents, organisations and businesses as possible in order to truly reflect the values and requirements of the village now and in the future. Our intent is to formulate a Structure Plan for Patumahoe Village is community designed. This will be presented as a community developed concept plan for the Long Term Plan for Patumahoe in 2012. This project was begun after conversations with Franklin District Council in mid 2010 revealed that Patumahoe village was not scheduled for individual review despite the unprecedented amount of residentail growth. It was suggested by FDC staff members that a community led design would be more likely to address issues of concern that were being raised. In some haste to beat the amalgamation of the District Councils, a community group was formed and a grant applied for with the still ezisting ARC.
TRAFFIC/TRANSPORT
Both Des Morrision (our current councillor) and Dianne Glenn were helpful in providing us with a strategy to effectively approach Auckland Council in 2012, as a LTCCP (Long Term Council Community Plan) submISSIOn.
We were also directed to a Porirua City Council iniative which has successfully provided resources to local communities in that area to consult and design their own villages and Structure Plans. So far we have: related our beginning history online on a blog; held several community meetings open to all; held five local street parties (attended by approx 140); commissioned a community website for Patumahoe and Mauku; discussed amalgamation with Whakaupoko Landcare to cut down on required resources and coordinate efforts; organised our first Open Day on Sundary 15 May 2011 where we will report back to the community what information we have gathered so far.
