Using EQ

The document discusses equalization (EQ) parameters and their effects on different instruments. It defines gain, frequency, and Q as the key EQ parameters, with gain governing the amount of boost or cut, frequency determining the center point of alteration, and Q controlling the width of the affected frequency band. It then lists the effects of boosting or cutting various frequencies on instruments like voice, piano, guitar, and percussion.

Gain - Governs the amount of boost or cut around the set frequency. This value range is -+ 24dB.

High gain may result in distortion. Frequency Measured in Hz. The Centre frequency for the equalisation. Around frequency the sound will be boosted or cut according to the Gain setting. The point at which audio material will be altered by the EQ gain (boost or cut). Q - Determines the width of the frequency band around the centre frequency to be affected. The narrower frequency band, the more drastic the effect of the boost or cut will be. The amount of boost or cut applied to the audio material at a frequency point. Instrument Effect of Boost
