Summer Term Activities in Reception Class

Summer Term

Welcome back to the Summer term! We hope you had a good Easter break. In Class Reception this term we welcome Miss Jackson, a new student, working with us on Thursday and Friday. Miss Raistrick is a student who works with us on Tuesday. The rest of our team: Mrs Keeling, Mrs Newby, Mrs Adams and Miss Simpson.
This term our topic is The Living Garden. We will be learning all about the outdoor environment, plants and animals and our role play area will be a flower shop. We will be busy sowing and planting.

Communication, Language and Literacy We will be: continuing our phonics work naming and sounding letters of the alphabet and digraphs continuing to read and write simple words and sentences. writing sentences more independently listening to stories practising writing our full name

Mathematical Development We will be: recognising, counting, using and ordering numbers up to 20. adding and subtracting using numbers to 20. using language such as heavier and lighter. above and below recognizing and describing 2D and 3D shapes. money, capacity, measuring

The children are doing really well with their reading skills so a big thank-you to you for spending time with your child reading their reading books and practising their sounds. It really does make a difference! We will continue to send set words and tricky words for your children to practise. Please let us know if you think your child has learnt the set quickly and we will move them onto the next set.

PE Monday - dance with Mrs Hulley Tuesday and Friday ball skills, balance, team work and listening and following instructions.

Thank you for putting your childs name in all their clothes as it really helps when changing for PE. As the weather has improved we will be doing more PE outside. Please make sure your child has some pumps or trainers suitable for PE outside. If they have indoor shoes that will be suitable these will be fine. Thank-you.

Please could you collect the cardboard rolls from inside kitchen roll for a creative project and send them in asap? Thanks!
