attacks. It is not a treatment for the cause of the iscaemia but relieves symptoms. It works by dilating coronary arteries, increasing oxygen supply to the cardiac muscle and by dilating veins, thus reducing venous return and reducing the preload work on the heart.

Special precautions Sudden withdrawal of the drug may induce angina attack.
