Read & React Press Break

This document provides instructions for running a Read & React press break offense. It describes initially setting up 5 spots on the perimeter similar to a 5-out offense. The key rules are that every time a player passes, they must cut to the basket, and if there is an open perimeter spot between a player and the ball, they must fill it. It then walks through 6 frames showing how the offense would work with players cutting and filling open spots according to the rules. The goal is to get the ball reversed from one side to the other and find the open man for a shot or drive to the basket.

Brief "Hook & Look"

- Cutter should "hook and look" in the m iddle of the cut. This is a standard R&R rule versus zones. Instead of going all the way through, cutter pauses in the soft center of the defense, hooks & looks towards the ballhandler, and then continues with his cut if he doesn't get the ball. - 2 m an fills the open perim eter spot closest to ball - 5 m an fills nex t open perim eter spot closest to the ball - Cutter fills out to the open perim eter spot.

Fram e 4
- 1 passes to 2 then basket cuts - 2 looks for im m ediate reversal to 5, or give & go back to cutter - 4 fills open perim eter spot closest to ball - 1 fills nex t open perim eter spot
