Firehouse STAAD Analysis Summary

The email summarizes the results of an STAAD analysis for a firehouse redesign project. It notes that structural member sizes were reduced to minimize the building weight and costs. Columns and beams were changed to smaller sizes. It also identifies that additional analysis is needed to confirm the soil capacity and that an extra column may be required to connect new strap beams between eccentric perimeter footings.

As per latest STAAD Analysis, here are the following concerns:

1. We reduced the weight (pounds per linear foot) to minimize (almost) the weight of the building (Original size---> Latest change of size) to be cost efficient.

Columns C1: W18X106 ---> W18X60 C2 W16X100 ---> W18X60 PC1 W10X49 (Planted columns above existing column) ** Beams ** IB1: W24X84 ---> W24X55 IB2: W24X62 ---> W24X55 IB3: W24X76 ---> W24X55 IB4: W21X57 ---> W21X50 IB5: W16X50 ---> W16X31 IB6: W16X26 ---> W12X26 SB1: W12X16 ---> W12X26 (only increase)

2. We need to confirm the (actual) soil bearing capacity of the soil beneath the structure based on soil report.

3. We need an additional column somewhere at the middle, because we need to provide additional strap beams connecting L-type (eccentric) footings located at the property lines.

Thanks be to God.
