WSUS Installation & Management

Step 1: System Settings and Updating

Following steps are necessary before the installation of WSUS

Change the System date and time settings


Change the Computer name: WSUS
Change the Workgroup: Pifraisb
Window activation: Check the Window Key/Genuine Validation
Windows Live Updates & Installations
Service Pack 2 Installation
***Microsoft Report Viewer 2008 Redistributable (Pre-requisite of WSUS) ***
At the end make sure that the System is fully Updated

Step 2: Disk Management and Mirroring

No. of Disk in WSUS Server: 03

 Disk’0’: 500 GB
 Disk’1’: 500 GB
 Disk’2’: 500 GB

DISK 0:

01 C: 50 GB Drive ‘C’ will be use for the Operating System(Windows Server 2008 SP2)
02 D: 250 GB Drive ‘D’ will be use the for Different Software’s
03 E: 175 GB Drive ‘E’ will be use for the WSUS Live Updates

Step 3: WSUS 3.0 SP2 Installation Process

Download the WSUS 3.0 sp2

Double Click and Start the Installation Wizard of WSUS 3.0 SP2

Accept the License Agreement

Microsoft Report Viewer 2008 Redistributable (Required Component for WSUS Administration)

Select the destination folder for Updates of WSUS

Select the destination folder for database of WSUS

Select the IIS Default website for WSUS 3.0 SP2 updating

Press ‘Next’ WSUS is ready to install

Installation Wizard of WSUS 3.0 SP2 completed and going to be installed
