STAAD – PRO
(Structural Analysis and design software )
Staad is comphrensive structural engineering software that addresses all
aspects of structural engineering – analysis, design, verification,
visualization.
Staad performs the analysis and design of structure of different types of
structures such as strusses, plane,spaces ( 3D),floor ( 2D plane but loads
are vertical)
Staad has two main methods of modeling.
1. Input editor ( script language)
2. Graphical environment.
Main steps of Modeling.
1. Entering job information
2. Building model geometry.
3. Defining member properties, sections.
4. Assigning loads ( load cases, combinations)
5. Defining pre-analysis print out, analysis type and post analysis print
out.
6. Defining design requirements.
Introduced in 1981.
Advantages:-
1. Extremely flexible modeling environment.
2. Broad spectra of design codes.
3. International best seller.
4. Interoperability and open architecture.
5. Covering all aspects of structural engineering.
6. Quality Assurance.
7. Extremely scalable.
8. Reports and documentation.
9. Technical support by structural engineer.
10. Training.
11. Efficient algorithem that minimizes disk space requirement.
12. Flexible zoom, pan and multiple views.
13. Quick data inputs thru property sheets and spread sheets.
14. Advance automatic load generation facilities for wind ,area, floor and moving loads
15. Simple command language.
