Essay 2: In an essay of 300 words or less, choose one extracurricular activity, work experience,

or community service project from the list you provided on the application and explain why you
initially chose it, why you continued with it, and how you have benefited from it.

I see education as something that goes beyond a classroom experience. Every day I learn new
things that will help me to understand and grow in the world I will live in.

Throughout my high school years, I was involved in many activities; I was a volunteer student
member at a “community health forum participant and activist”.

The purpose of this program is to help people understand health awareness and conditions in our
communities and to know about what is happening in society because of their lack of knowledge
in the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. Due to the fact that people living in a community interact
with one another, they affect each other’s health and well-being, either helping to improve one
another’s lifestyle, or deteriorate it.

These groups of activists are seeking to reduce the number of deaths from heart disease, cancer,
AIDS and diabetes and to lower the rate of obesity, young teenagers who smoke cigarettes, who
do drugs, or drink alcohol.

I have always been concerned for the well-being of others and I have always been interested in
the medical field. The reasons behind me actively participating in such activities are, other than
the fact that I love to associate myself with people, to educate citizens on health and to find
solutions to the problems that I might be forced to face.

These experiences made me realize how much I really enjoy helping people. I gained the
knowledge of how good conversation skills can build bridges of understanding and can be a
solution for all kinds of troubling problems.

Well-being is the secret of every happy man. If a person loses his or her health then he or she
also loses happiness from his or her life. The old saying goes, “health is wealth”.
