Field Trip Proposal

Western Michigan University Gold Company Invitational Vocal Jazz Festival

The purposes of this trip are:


1. to share our love of vocal jazz and learn from other vocal jazz groups from around
the country
2. to get feedback from outstanding educators in the field
3. to hear an outstanding professional ensemble (M-pact) and an outstanding college
ensemble (WMU’s Gold Company)
4. to articulate with one of the top collegiate vocal jazz programs in the country.

The trip will take place March 19 & 20. We will travel to the campus of Western
Michigan University in Kalamazoo. The trip is for the members of Vocal Jazz Workshop
led by Mr. Molloy. We will take school mini-bus. The cost breakdown is as follows:

Festival fees: $20 per student = $240 /12 = $20/student

Hotel: 5 rooms @ $96 = $480/ 12 = $40/student

Transportation: to be covered by the school(?)

Total cost: $720 / 12 = $60/student

8:00 PM Attend concert at WMU
10:00 PM Arrive at hotel, check in

6:00 AM Wake up, complimentary continental breakfast, check out
8:00 AM Depart hotel for WMU
8:30 AM Attend festival, perform at festival, participate in clinics

9:00 PM Depart Kalamazoo
1:00 AM Arrive at SCN
