Essential Nitrite and Ammonia Testing Guide

1. Nitrite is produced by bacteria in the biological filter from converting ammonia, and is toxic to fish even in trace amounts. 2. This test measures nitrite levels in parts per million to identify nitrite presence, which can harm fish above 0 ppm and indicates issues like overfeeding. 3. The test involves adding drops of solution to a water sample, then comparing the color change to a chart after 5 minutes to determine nitrite concentration.
