The Rough-Face Girl by Rafe Martin

and David Shannon

Dont Eat the Bluebonnets by Ellen

Leventhal and Ellen Rothberg

The Berenstain Bears Visit the

Dentist by Stan and Jan Berenstain

Hatch by Gary Paulsen

Sadako and the Thousand Paper

Cranes by Eleanor Coerr

Holes by Louis Sachar

This book reminded me of an Indiana

Cinderella fantasy. I enjoyed looking
at each drawing and appreciate how
beauty comes in many forms.
Dont Eat the Bluebonnets, this book
brings back special family memories
in my hometown. I love the
enhancing colors and Texas storys
title.
The Berenstain Bears Visit the
Dentist, I brought this book with me
every dentist visit. Glancing at the
happy bears brought me at ease
during the visit.
Hatchet was the first survival of the
fittest books I read as a teenager. I
was amazed how a thirteen year old
boy can mature so much by one
event.
This is the first book that made me
cry. Reading through tough times of
WWII and heartaches, you can find
peace and harmony thru art of
origami.
Holes was the first chapter book Ive
finished reading and one of my
favorite mystery books. I couldnt
stop reading and flipping pages as I
grew deeper into each chapter.

Matilda by Roald Dahl

Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel

Silverstein

Matilda inspired me to invent my

time in books, regardless of your
family or reading background. She
encouraged me keep reading, and you
can pursue anything if you just read.

Where the Sidewalk Ends, this was

my first poetry book read by my
father in the library. I was fascinated
by each poem and how each of them
ties into a simple black and white
picture.
9
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L.
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, this
Frank Baum
book was my favorite childhood
fantasy books. After finishing the
book, I watched the movie as a silly
tradition.
10
The Witches by Quentin Blake
The Witches, reading this book I
realized curious events can happen
randomly. I read about the battles
between good and evil and fantasy
versus reality.

Book: Holes by Louis Sachar

Why was this experience

significant?
I would like to thank my dad for
taking me to the library as a child. If
it werent for him; Ive wouldnt have
started my journey for the love for
books. I dedicate myself to go to the
library more often, and read in
peaceful learning environment.
I would like to thank my teacher Mrs.
E, for being such an understanding,
thoughtful, helpful, fun-loving
person. If Ive ever struggled on a
subject, pronouncing a word, or
needed a friend; she was the only
teacher I would always turn to.
I would like to thank my teacher Mrs.
D. She always pushed me to the limit
and strived for success. She helped
me become a better reader. I
remember she wasnt always fun like
other teachers, but she cared for her
students like if theyre were her own
children. Mrs. D had high
expectations for her students, I was
glad I was one of them.
I would like to thank two of my best
friends Anita and Anglea. These two
girls were both my best friends in my
elementary developmental classes. I
can always relate to their struggles
and reading disabilities. Even though,
we shared the same journey; well
always try to make it worth wild.
I would like to thank Louis Sachar,
author of Holes. I remember
reading this book in junior high as an
assigned book report. At first, I

how to cook

LeAnna Rimes- How do I Breath

(Song)

Macbeth by William Shakespeare

wasnt interested in the book title or

the book cover. I learned you should
never guide a book by its cover. In the
end, I finished reading my first
chapter book and became one of my
favorite mystery books.
I would like to thank Roald Dahl,
author of Matilda. After watching the
movie and reading the book, I learn to
appreciate yourself and reading
struggles. Matilda was a unique and
bright child growing up in a
dysfunctional family. She relied on
books to be her friend. Later on, she
taught herself how to read and
became the smartest student in her
class. Matilda inspired me to read
more often and appreciate the love for
books.
Cooking is one of my most favorite
hobbies besides reading. If you want
to cook, you must read. You must
understand learn intermediate skills,
mastering instructional steps, and
memorize cooking vocabulary. Laura
Vitale was my teacher in the kitchen.
She channeled her cooking skills,
comforted me with her smiles, and
kept cooking recipe simple.
She was my first country singer I fell
in love with. Her music spoke to me
in words that can melted my spirit.
One of her popular hits, How do I
Breath was my favorite song to sing
along to. As soon as I was familiar
with the song, I began singing a
karaoke.
Macbeth was my first Shakespeare
book I couldnt stand reading in high
school. The words and the language
confused me reading after each
chapter. If it werent for Macbeth, I
wouldnt be able to translate poetry
into my own thoughtful words.
Eventually, I was learning the
customs of the language which helped

me grow as a reader.
