Lesson Date: November 24, 2015
State Standard: [Link].1.3.A Know the spelling-sound
correspondences for common consonant digraphs.
Lesson Objectives: Students will be able to identify the digraph th
in a text and be able to write the words including the digraph on a
paper.
Goal: Identify and find words with the digraph th.
Attention Getter: In previous centers students have used and
learned about the digraph th, review what it sounds like referencing
the thumb card. Then have students come up with ideas of words
with th.
Guided Practice:
1. Give each student a copy of the books with the digraphs in it.
2. Have students open the book to the first page and try to find
one words with the digraph.
3. After a few seconds talk with the students and ask them what
digraphs they found.
Independent Practice:
1. Hand out the papers with spaces for them to fill out the words
that they find.
2. Explain that they will be doing the same thing that they did
with me.
3. When the students have filled out the whole paper, have them
help others if they finished early.
4. If there is time when all the students have finished have them
underline the digraph th in each word.
Assessment: The paper that the students have filled out with
digraphs will be the assessment. We will be able to see if they have
correctly identified words with the digraph th in them and if they
were able to correctly the digraph with in the word.
