Dreya, Jamie, Alex, and I were in Indiana all weekend at a recruitment boot camp. By the
end of it, we had to make an action plan with 5 things were going to implement within the chapter
by Recruitment 2017. We want everyone to have an open mind, because these techniques have
been proven to work.
If you werent at the first workshop please take a look at the PowerPoint that was sent out
yesterday. It has a lot of important information about all the details of recruitment, Panhellenic
rules that we must follow, and information that will help you answer hard questions about things
like probation.
If you still need the final recruitment schedule sheet/details please pick one up at the end
of chapter.

If you didnt pick up a Scholarship round t-shirt please let me know, so that I can bring
them to the second workshop.
If you havent received a Select-A-Sis registration e-mail or havent taken a few minutes
to set up your account, please get that done today.
The second workshop is on Tuesday, January 26th from 7-9 pm in Cudahy Hall room 202.
We will immediately have the LCs presentation after the workshop, which should only last about
30 minutes.
The selections team will be meeting in Cuneo 318 on Thursday, January 28th. Well be
there till we get all the initial scoring done.

We received the grade report for last semester. We are currently ranked 7th on campus
with our average GPA of 3.26. This is a disappointing drop from our usual place of 3rd or 4th.
However, I know it was a rough semester for our sorority so hopefully we can improve in the
upcoming semester.
Anyone struggling with grades or staying on track please reach out so we can come up
with a plan. I will hopefully be receiving individual member grade reports by the end of the week
so I can address any GPA issues.
With last semester behind us lets go into this semester strong and with our priorities
focused on our academics. And with recruitment this week, lets make sure we are planning
appropriately so we can get our work done and enjoy recruitment!
Our first Library Night is coming up on Feb. 10th!!
Social: Jenna Kmiec
ASA's IIT chapter has reached out to me because they want to have an exchange with
us, also has DePaul's ASA chapter. Unfortunately we don't have any extra mixer dates outside of
the four fraternities so I was thinking about seeing if they wanted to come to LBO and possibly
create their own volleyball teams.

Semi-Formal /Formal: Daniella Amato

No report.
Service and Giving: Chrissy Callahan
Just a reminder that any service work you did over winter break will count towards this
semesters hours.
Everyone should have gotten an email sent to their Loyola email from MobileServe
asking you to sign up.
o Its really important that everyone completes this because this is the new
and approved way Alpha Sig wants to record service hours.
o Just follow the link in the email and follow the instructions (it takes 1
minute).
o Then go to the app store, download the app (its just called Mobile
Serve), and log in
o Theres a way to register to the Chapter, but I havent figured it out yet
(Ill let you know when I do!)
Hopefully soon, the Service and Giving committee will make a short presentation on the
difference between service hour and charitable giving hours.
o It is really important that everyone understands how they are different
because National Headquarters is really pushing being knowledgeable about the two and
making sure that we are recording hours under the appropriate name.
Fundraising: Syeda Zaidi
We are continuing the Valentine's singing grams tradition with the Acafellas which will
take place the week of Valentine's Day.
The first recycled letters fundraisers will be held at bid day. I'll reach out to girls tonight via
Facebook letting them know how they can help!
I have secured a fundraiser with Insomnia cookies that is scheduled for Monday,
February 22! It'll be an in store fundraiser and all proceeds will go to special olympics from that
day (ASA won't even have to be mentioned at checkout which will score us more funds!)

Ritual: Suzie Dahleh

If you were not at the recruitment workshop or have not looked at the email Monika sent
with the recruitment powerpoint, I just wanted to inform you that there is a ritual during preference
round. It is important to remember even though recruitment is a very exciting time, it is a ritual
and should be taken seriously. Ritual is a something very new to the PNMs, therefore they are
going to look at you as an example for how to act. Please remember to be silent and respectful
during the ritual using it as a time of reflection. Also, be sure to review the recruitment powerpoint
because it explains goes over some key components about the ritual and everyone's role in the
ritual!
Sisterhood/Standards: Abby Smith
No report, but I want to thank you all for electing me to be Sisterhood and Standards
chairwoman. Though it was short, I'm grateful that I could help our chapter move forward in the
time I had. Good luck with recruitment, and enjoy spending that time with your sisters!
Risk Management: Emily Sarsok
Read the FIPG policies to the chapter and go over the risk management plan for bid day.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1swew2DgYJXYDBM9j3pKUYpa2w6OkykcAOYM2Ye2D20/edit?usp=sharing
FIPG Policy overview, Focus: Hazing

No chapter, colony, student or alumnus shall conduct nor condone

hazing activities. Permission or approval by a person being hazed is not a defense.
Hazing activities are defined as: "Any action taken or situation created, intentionally,
whether on or off fraternity premises, to produce mental or physical discomfort,
embarrassment, harassment, or ridicule. Such activities may include but are not limited to
the following: use of alcohol, paddling in any form, creation of excessive fatigue, physical
and psychological shocks, quests, treasure hunts, scavenger hunts, road trips or any
other such activities carried on outside or inside of the confines of the chapter house;
wearing of public apparel which is conspicuous and not normally in good taste, engaging
in public stunts and buffoonery, morally degrading or humiliating games and activities,
and any other activities which are not consistent with academic achievement, fraternal
law, ritual or policy or the regulations and policies of the educational institution or
applicable state law.
Risk Management Bid Day plan
Alcohol will not be present/distributed or consumed at any time
throughout the duration of Bid Day. Sisters who violate this policy will, without exception,
face a standards hearing. Sisters who arrive at bid day and appear to be drunk, or have
clearly consumed alcohol prior to the event will not be allowed to enter/participate in bid
day, this will be an unexcused absence of a mandatory event, and will result in a
standards hearing. Facebook, Instagram or other social media posts, as well as
Snapchats depicting alcohol consumption directly prior to the event, will also be taken
into consideration while discerning the sobriety of a potentially intoxicated sister upon
entering the event. If an advisor, member of the executive board, or Risk Management
team, hear that a sister plans to pre-game/post-game, you will be asked not to attend Bid
Day and will not receive a pearl. If there is a reasonable suspicion of a sister drinking on
the premise of the event there will be a brief inquiry, and action will be taken as stipulated
above as necessary.
In order to ensure that alcohol will not be present, all beverages brought
for the pot-luck style event are to be sealed upon entering the event, or are to be
prepared by no less than two sisters within the area of the event, while other members
are present. Personal water bottles are to be filled exclusively with water, and bringing in
personal beverages is discouraged.
Women are encouraged to reflect on their own bid days and consider the
impression they would have received if the members were intoxicated. It is encouraged
that women help set up and clean up prior to and after the event, this is not only
beneficial toward the success of Bid Day, but also allows less time for members to
consume alcohol prior to the event. The executive board and risk management team will
remind members of our values, and the consequences of drinking during or prior to the
event throughout the course of the weekend. At the end of preference round the risk
manager will make an announcement reminding the members of this expectation, and
upon entering the event sisters will be required to check in. This allows the executive
board and advisors the opportunity to be sure that none of our sisters have arrived at the
event intoxicated.
