WPSPQR

This document contains details of a Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) including: 1. The welding process is manual metal arc welding using stainless steel base metals and filler material classified according to AWS standards. 2. Key variables specified include current range, voltage range, preheat temperature, gas type and flow rate, and welding technique. 3. The WPS supports a Procedure Qualification Record (PQR) and conforms to the EN ISO 15609-1 standard.

Essential Variables
For each welding process there are a
number of important variable parameters
that maybe adjusted to suit different
applications, but must be kept within
specified limits to produce welds of the
desired level of quality for a given
application.
We generally term these variable
parameters as Essential Variables

Non Essential Variables

A change in welding condition which will
NOT affect the mechanical properties of
the weldment.
(Methods of Back gauging, Cleaning, etc.)

Supplementary Essential
Variables
A change in welding condition which will affect
the Notch-Toughness (Impact) properties of
the weldment.
(Change in Heat input, Uphill or Down Vertical
welding, Diameter of Electrode, Position, etc.)
