Essential Variables
For each welding process there are a
number of important variable parameters
that maybe adjusted to suit different
applications, but must be kept within
specified limits to produce welds of the
desired level of quality for a given
application.
We generally term these variable
parameters as Essential Variables
Non Essential Variables
A change in welding condition which will
NOT affect the mechanical properties of
the weldment.
(Methods of Back gauging, Cleaning, etc.)
Supplementary Essential
Variables
A change in welding condition which will affect
the Notch-Toughness (Impact) properties of
the weldment.
(Change in Heat input, Uphill or Down Vertical
welding, Diameter of Electrode, Position, etc.)
