I would characterize the Tang Dynasty as powerful because it had a lot of land that they call their own and

The religion that flourished was Buddhism because monks and teachers passed

Yes I do consider China under the Tang Dynasty to be the golden age because the way the dynasty was set up
was stable and it had a great government and belief systems and also had great cultures.
