Rain Water pH Study by Location

This document summarizes a study that aimed to measure and compare the pH values of rainwater samples collected from different locations. Rainwater was collected from industrial, rural, and urban areas and its pH was measured using a pH meter. The results showed that the rainwater from the industrial area had the lowest pH value of 5, while the rural area had the highest pH value of 7. The conclusion is that the pH of rainwater depends on the location where it is collected from.

Water Pollution study

By:
Group 10

Aim: To study pH value of rain water from different

locations.

Variable:
Manipulated Variable: Rain water from different
locations
Responding Variable: pH value of rain water
Independent Variable: volume of rain water

APPARATUS and MATERIALS:

RAIN GAUGE and MEASURING CYLINDER
SAMPLE OF RAIN WATER FROM
DIFFERENT LOCATIONS.
pH METER

METHODS:
1. Collect sample of rain water from
different locations by using a rain gauge.
2. pH values from each sample is taken by
using pH meter.
3. Record the findings in the table below.
4. Draw the bar graph of the pH value
against location of rain water sampling.

Observation:
Location of water
sampling

pH value

Industrial area

Rural area

Urban area

Conclusion:
From our project, we can make a
conclusion that pH value of the rain water
is related to its location. The pH value in
the industrial area is lowest compared to
other locations.
